Rectory Rd N16 Residents Association ๐ถ๐พโโ๏ธ๐ด ๐ณ
@N16Rectory
Supporting Rectory Rd residents rights to less toxic Air Pollution, traffic danger, noise from the A10. Residential Road with a Children's Centre in the middle.
๐๐พ @willnorman to reduce the high level of #AirPollution , speeding danger and to improve the health and safety of our residents families, kids, pedestrians, cyclists:
-20mph๐ถ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฟโโ๏ธ๐ง๐ฝโ๐ฆฝ
-Crossing outside Linden Children's Centre๐ด
-Trees for cleaner air + cooling @metecoban92 ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ
@willnorman Traffic on our road is so bad despite lockdown.We suffer high AirPollution + speed danger but as residential road, weโre not in a LTN and as A10 stretch, weโre ignored by @TfL But our community has rights to a greener, healthier, safer road too. #activetravel@hackneycouncil ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฟ
More than 5 years ago we asked @TfL for a zebra crossing outside Linden Children Centre alongside 20mph (which is in place now but not enforced) and trees (zero trees).
To this day there is no safe crossing and wide enough pavements for families and children.
@MayorofLondon
Every child should be able to walk or cycle to school safely, but we know many people are put off by safety concerns, poor crossings or inaccessible streets.
@TfLโs Walk and Wheel Plan will make streets safer and more accessible for everyday journeys.

@AlexSherston@Breathe_London@LDN_environment@MayorofLondon We have been in conversation with Hackney Council over the past 7 years, but so far, with @TFL managing the road - we are a red route - there hasn't been any progress...
But we will keep campaigning and are looking forward to reach out to our new Mayor @mayorofhackney too!๐ณ
๐๐๐พ
Another hot evening and we canโt open the windows onto the road, to prevent the A10 fumes coming in.
Our @Breathe_London node data shows dangerously toxic levels of NO2 from the A10.
And still no๐ณ๐ณ to help with air filtering, shade or cooling.

An amber heat health warning is in place in London until Thursday 28 May โ ๏ธ
Keep cool and stay hydrated - and please check in on anyone who may find it difficult to manage in the heat.

@EmmaforWycombe@Keir_Starmer@UKHSA@metoffice@tobyperkinsmp@BarryGardiner@H_S_E@DefraGovUK Official: CODE RED HIGH AIR POLLUTION ALERT for southern UK on Mon 25 and Tues 26 May. Risk of death for military on endurance exercises. National Pollution Alert legally required if 1hr-ozone exceeds 180ug/m3. Oddly, โTomorrowโ description omits HIGHs (see maps)
@melissacreate15@LDN_environment Unfortunately as a red route, we are managed by @TfL
They so far had no interest in our ask because we are not an High Street. Which is enraging, since we are a only a residential road with a children's centre, carrying the whole A10 southbound. We will keep asking @MayorofLondon
Rectory Road has been campaigning for the past 7 years to ask for trees on our road to help filter air, provide shade and reduce heat, especially critical as increasing heatwaves worsen pollution, as well as mitigating the impact of heavy rainfall and flooding.๐ณ@LDN_environment
Big announcement:
Weโre supercharging green and blue spaces to bring nature back across the capital, with local communities leading the charge. Itโs not just about restoring our natural world - weโre making London more climate resilient, too.
Air pollution making people in UK get long-term illnesses earlier, study finds
Pollution is โsilent accelerator that robs individuals of their healthiest yearsโ, say researchers

โMore illness, earlier in life, concentrated in the communities already most exposed to poor air quality. Reducing air pollution has to be part of any serious strategy to reduce health inequalities, ease pressure on the NHS, and improve population health.โ

Our @Breathe_London node at Linden Children Centre shows No2 levels 5 times over the WHO legal limits.
We live on a residential road with no trees and carrying the whole A10 southbound.
All our community asks for is trees to help w #AirPollution๐ณ

This is the No2 live right now from our @Breathe_London node by Linden Children Centre, showing high No2 from the A10 Southbound.
We have been campaigning for the past 6 years asking for measures to reduce #Airpollution with trees.
Our lungs matter too
@LDN_environment
Not for communities on red routes. After 6 years of campaigning asking for trees we are still getting high No2 from the A10 southbound and have not a single tree to help with #Airpollution
Thanks @Breathe_London for the ongoing support and for providing us with the node/data.๐
