The People’s Majlis Secretariat has commenced its inaugural internship program, welcoming the first batch of students from @VillaCollegeMv under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions.
Through the one-month program, interns will gain practical experience and valuable insights into the work of the People’s Majlis and the functions of the Secretariat.
Together with Rector Dr. Ahmed Anwar, we bid farewell to Professor Ma from CLC and welcome Professor Ren, the new appointee.
Over the past two years, Professor Ma has worked tirelessly to lay the foundation and promote the growth of CLC, and has become the most recognizable Chinese figure in the Maldives. Through learning Chinese, many Maldivian friends have come to know her, and through her, they have learned more about China.
We believe that Professor Ren will take up the baton and go further along the path of Sino-Maldivian cultural cooperation. We look forward to seeing, with the support of CLC at @VillaCollegeMv, more Maldivian friends fall in love with the Chinese language and gain a deeper understanding of China.
Clear enough for non-lawyers, precise enough for practitioners, and structured for students who want to actually understand the subject.

Reinstating Atoll Councils:
This essay argues that, in accordance with Chapter 8 of the Constitution, the decentralized administration of Maldivian atolls can only be effectively realized through the operation of empowered Atoll Councils. It asserts that the authority to govern and decide on matters concerning atoll residents must be devolved to the atolls themselves. This includes granting Atoll Councils the mandate to determine the developmental trajectory of their respective atolls and to oversee the management and utilization of their natural resources. Furthermore, Atoll Councils should function as the essential bridge connecting government ministries with the administrative needs of the atolls.
