The IAEA today launched ATLAS — Atomic Technologies Licensed for Applications at Sea — a global initiative to support the safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear power in civilian shipping and floating nuclear power plants.

Growing interest in nuclear-powered ships and floating nuclear power plants has pointed to the need for closer cooperation between the nuclear and maritime communities.

Hosted by the United States and held over two days in Washington, D.C., the International High-level Forum on the ATLAS Launch brings together around 600 participants from over 50 countries, as well as international organizations, industry leaders, the maritime sector and port authorities, marking the first globally coordinated effort to connect the nuclear and maritime sectors.

@Syriouus كان في مشروع مقترح بدير الزور لعمل مزرعة رياح من 200 عنفة ولكن ما بعرف شو صار فيه، اذا فعلا رح ينفذ او تكنسل

ووضع ستاندر يمنع دخول اي معدات طاقة ردئية للبلد او حتى تصنيع معدات ردييئة داخل البلد ، سواء للقطاع الخاص او العام ووقف سياسة الترقيع.

@RAlwkaa اخي اقرأ النص كويس، لم يتم ذكر بأي سطر أنو المواد النووية موجودة بالدير، النص ذكر المفاعل وين موجود وليس المواد، الشغلة مو عناد

كثير ناس مفكرة أنو الموقع إلي فيه مواد نووية بدير الزور ولكن المعلومة هاي غلط.

مفاعل الكبر بدير الزور صحيح ولكن انقصف بعام 2007 وبعد القصف تم ردم الأساس تبعه وبناء فوقه بناء جديد عبارة عن مستودع .

المواد النووية إلي اعلنو عنها اليوم موجودة بموقع بدمشق وليس دير الزور وهي على الاغلب وقود نووي طبيعي غيرمخصب بالإضافة للجرافيت.

I’m currently in Syria, in the context of ongoing cooperation with the Syrian Government to clarify and resolve outstanding safeguards issues related to implementing its NPT Safeguards Agreement with the IAEA.

We conducted the following activities:

•⁠ ⁠Deir Ez-Zor site: observed ongoing excavation activities in close coordination with the IAEA;
•⁠ ⁠Undeclared location outside of Damascus: confirmed the presence of several tons of natural uranium metal. Agreed with the government that the undeclared material will be verified and subject to routine Agency safeguards;
•⁠ ⁠Visited a location where large quantities of graphite are stored which is also related to the past nuclear activities at Deir Ez-Zor.

Thanks to the government, including @syrianmofaex’s Foreign Minister @AsaadHShaibani, for the proactive cooperation on this crucial work so that nuclear activities in this country are no longer associated with nuclear weapons, but with energy, food, and health.
