The current global energy crisis and rising fuel prices are prompting nations to rethink their long-term energy transition strategies. Green hydrogen is emerging as a compelling alternative for those seeking to reduce their dependence on imported fossil fuels and accelerate decarbonization across transport and industry.
With global green hydrogen demand exceeding 95 million tonnes annually, the scale of opportunity is evident across nations and sectors. The adoption of green hydrogen can be accelerated through targeted government subsidies, demand-creation policies, infrastructure development, and long-term purchase agreements. Equally important is the need to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration that enables knowledge exchange and places the renewable energy transition at the forefront of national priorities.
Across its Member Countries, the International Solar Alliance is creating a platform for such impactful discussions. These efforts are helping accelerate the transition towards a renewable and solar-powered future, while also building momentum for greater green hydrogen adoption and the use of solar to drive energy diversification.
