@CAgovernor Incredible. Now imagine the lives you would save if you put even half as much effort into fighting crime, fentanyl, and homelessness instead
How much are you talking about? Caffeine can cause arrhythmias and seizures at high doses, and has killled teenagers w/ underlying heart conditions at 400<mg in a day.
The fact that 90% of people see caffeine as benign, yet demonize kratom, is moronic. Their addictive potential may differ, but clearly stigma is the main difference.
Yes, it’s better to be treated under a dr’s care. You should always consult a dr before consuming anything, especially if you have a diagnosed condition or are on any daily medications.
My only point is that Kratom itself isn’t uniquely dangerous or deadly compared to substances that are sold OTC and accepted by the public as “safe”. Many have the same or worse side effects, but aren’t demonized to the same extent.
@mikemckellutah This alone doesn’t necessarily prove danger. For instance, CBD products with 0% THC are also banned for DOD service members, including topical forms like lotions.
Kratom is less inebriating than alcohol and THC, and is practically impossible to OD on in its natural form. It can be addictive if taken daily. But, its effects are not very strong and it tastes like ass, so most ppl are not interested in it compared to alcohol/other drugs
So basically it was never illegal to begin with, and the government doesn’t see it as a major public threat.
@mattgaetz@TheNatPulse 7OH doesn’t naturally occur in high levels within Kratom. It’s also more addictive than natural Kratom leaf. It’s kind of like =>99% THC carts (7OH) vs weak cannabis flower (kratom leaf).
It shouldn’t be criminalized, but pure 7OH is too potent for the general public IMO
@GovMikeDeWine ALL natural Kratom compounds? Glad to you’re see siding with big pharma and fentanyl dealers against a tree that’s been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years!
@SenJanetNguyen Alcohol acts on the same brain receptors as Pentobarbitol, which is used to euthanize animals at the vet. Why is alcohol legal without a prescription? And why is it available at every gas station around the country?
@MishaTurtleX@nypost I used to have 3 tablespoons a day for 7 years. If a tablespoon could kill someone, I should be dead thousands of times over by now.
@nypost Their “kid” was a 37 year old grown man, not a child. How would his parents be aware of everything he was taking at the time? Not to mention literal adults can have preexisting health problems unrelated to anything they consume.
