For Hannah Szenes, love for the Land of Israel wasn’t just a belief. It was something she lived, fought, and ultimately gave her life for. 🇮🇱

At just 18, she worked the fields of Kibbutz Sdot Yam on the Mediterranean shore, where she wrote some of Israel’s most beloved Hebrew poetry, including “A walk to Caesarea” (Eli, Eli).

But when European Jews faced Nazi annihilation, Hannah chose to fight back.

In 1944, she volunteered for a daring mission into Nazi-occupied Europe to help rescue the Jews. Captured and executed at just 23, she left behind a legacy of extraordinary courage.

82 years later, her poetry and bravery continue to inspire generations. 🕯️

On November 6–7, 85 years ago, Nazi Germans and collaborators rounded up more than 20,000 Jews from the city of Rovno (Poland / Ukraine) and marched them to the Sosenki forest.
They chose the anniversary of the Russian Revolution, claiming Jews were communists. Among the victims were members of my own family: my great-grandparents Natan (77) and Etel (74), grandmother Malka (46), and her young son, uncle Chaim, who had just reached Bar Mitzvah age.
They were forced to stand on a narrow plank above a trench and were shot at point-blank range.
None of them knew that they were “communists”. None believed this was possible.
This is how the horrors of the Holocaust and Second World War were born: at the intersection of medieval blood libels and the modern antisemitism of the 20th century.
Never again.

59 years later, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s unfinished journey to Israel finally becomes a reality. ❤️🇮🇱🇺🇲

Today, 500 African American and African Christian leaders arrived in Israel as part of the "Unfinished Business" pilgrimage, an initiative created and led by the BCLCIR.

Their vision was to fulfill Dr. King’s dream of bringing African American pastors on a pilgrimage and solidarity trip to the Holy Land.

It was a journey MLK planned in 1967, but never got to make.

At a time when it proves most costly, these brave leaders came to see Israel for themselves, led by their faith, a deep commitment to the truth, and in service of Black - Jewish community building, a special tradition built by generations of solidarity.

As part of their trip, they also honored Israelis whose lives were forever changed by October 7 and by antisemitism, including Elkana Bohbot, who survived 738 days in Hamas captivity.
