🔸 On Thursday evening, President Trump called Israeli PM Netanyahu with a message he did not want to hear: Trump expected to sign a deal with Iran within days. Netanyahu, who believed the war could potentially lead to “regime change” in Tehran, appeared to recognize that he could not prevent Trump from moving forward with the agreement.
Israeli officials have avoided publicly criticizing President Trump, but remain privately skeptical of the deal. One major concern is that after the agreement is signed and the war ends, Iran could prolong negotiations without making meaningful nuclear concessions while stabilizing its economy through renewed oil sales without the risks of continued conflict, according to Axios.
🛡️ ISRAEL REJECTS HEZBOLLAH WITHDRAWAL DEMANDS AS U.S.-IRAN DEAL ADVANCES TOWARD LEBANON CEASEFIRE FRAMEWORK WHILE IDF PREPARES TO HALT OPERATIONS WITHOUT LEAVING SOUTHERN SECURITY ZONE
🛡️ A senior US official told the Israeli Broadcasting Authority: "No country will give up its right to self-defense as a result of the agreement. If the Iranians attack Israel, we will not expect Israel not to respond".
A senior diplomatic source told Israel Hayom that Israel will not be required to sign any agreement with Iran and will retain the right to defend itself, although military action would need to be coordinated with the US.
The source added that if no final agreement is reached and Iran maintains its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz or continues hostile actions, regime change could remain an option.
Regarding Lebanon, the source said the memorandum outlines a "regional ceasefire" under existing arrangements while preserving Israel's right to self-defense and to strike current or emerging threats.
The source also stated that Iran sought an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon as part of the agreement but failed to secure that demand.
⚠️ A source told Yedioth Ahronoth that Israel has information indicating the Washington-Tehran agreement includes a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Israeli officials told Yedioth Ahronoth: "If Hezbollah targets northern towns, we will attack the suburbs, and at that point, we will see Iran's response."
They added: "If Iran attacks us while targeting the suburbs, we will respond and will not accept the unification of fronts".
Security sources told the Israeli Broadcasting Authority that the IDF is preparing to halt ground operations in Lebanon as part of an agreement being finalized between Washington and Tehran.
The sources said the IDF will not withdraw from the safe zone in southern Lebanon under the agreement framework, and that the issue will be discussed during negotiations.
A senior Israeli official told Channel 12: "This is a shitty agreement".
🇱🇧 Lebanese MP Hussein al-Hajj Hassan, a member of Hezbollah's Loyalty to The Resistance Bloc, said: "We were clearly informed by Iran that Lebanon is included in the ceasefire."
He claimed Iranian officials informed Hezbollah that Israel would withdraw from Lebanese territory under the agreement.
Hassan added: "We will never accept a return to the situation before March 2, 2026, and Israel has no right to stay on our land."
He also stated: "Israel and the US are the ones who should commit first, because they are the ones who violate agreements. Hezbollah cannot make a commitment if the enemy does not commit first".
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said: "We are affected by the negotiation process in Islamabad and its results are reflected in our country, but no one is negotiating on behalf of Lebanon".
Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji told Le Figaro: "We do not call for the disarmament of Hezbollah to please Israel or the US, but to live in a normal country."
Rajji added: "Hezbollah's operations harm the economy, hinder tourism, and drag us into wars that have nothing to do with us".
🔸 Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is traveling to Geneva tonight to continue mediation efforts between the US and Iran, according to IRNA.
Dar said an electronic signing ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow as negotiations enter their final stage.
Axios reported that the US and Iran are expected to virtually sign a memorandum of understanding on Sunday, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, extending their ceasefire by 60 days, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and launching talks on Iran's nuclear program.
Officials said the virtual format is primarily due to logistical considerations.
🔸 The Iranian Foreign Ministry said: "The Islamabad memorandum of understanding focuses on ending the war at this stage without discussing the nuclear issue."
The ministry added: "The memorandum of understanding is not a final agreement with Washington, but an understanding that raises the main points of contention and confirms the end of the war."
Iran also stated that no signing is currently scheduled for tomorrow, though officials did not rule out a signing in the coming days.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said: "Our negotiating team has no plans to travel to Geneva or any other location during the next two days".
Iranian Fars News Agency reported that President Trump is pushing for a Sunday signing despite Iranian officials maintaining that negotiations are not finalized and no signing is currently expected.
Fars added that some in Iran believe Trump is seeking a symbolic political achievement around his birthday.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also stated: "We are in the final stages of taking our position on the memorandum of understanding, and most of the points have already been decided."
Officials added that Iranian authorities are currently meeting to discuss the memorandum.
The ministry further stated: "We do not confirm anything being circulated in the media regarding the details of the agreement's terms."
And: "The claim that we are very close to reaching an understanding with America is not new".

🔸 President Trump said a deal with Iran is scheduled to be signed tomorrow.
Trump stated: "Immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL."
The president said the agreement would permanently prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and described it as the opposite of the Obama-era nuclear deal.
Trump also said no money would exchange hands under the agreement and warned that if the process collapses, the U.S. has “the ultimate alternative.”
Trump stated: "My agreement with Iran is the exact opposite, a wall to no nuclear weapon! In fact, they no longer want a nuclear weapon, nor will they have one, either through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement. The deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is open to all".
🔸 A senior US official told The New York Times: "Iranian mediators and military officials confirmed that the Supreme Leader is satisfied with the agreement".
Iranian MP Mahmoud Nabavian said: "Upon reviewing the text of the agreement, I must state that, compared to the two previous versions, it is more damaging and Iran's concessions have also increased".
Iranian General Staff, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated: "The world will soon hear the echo of our victory and resistance against the enemy".
Protesters gathered outside the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran, chanting: "Death to Araqhchi, the dishonorable compromiser".
🛡️ ISRAEL ORDERS IDF PREPARATIONS AND REAFFIRMS SECURITY ZONES: Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that President Trump is pursuing an agreement with Iran based on American interests, including the shared Israeli-American interest of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Katz said Israel expects this principle to be upheld, along with additional principles regarding missiles and terror proxies.
He said Israel and the United States had dealt Iran “heavy blows” that set its capabilities back “for many years,” and stated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and he had instructed the IDF “to prepare accordingly” in order to preserve Israel’s ability to act independently against future Iranian nuclear threats.
Katz also declared that Israel “will not withdraw from the security zones in Lebanon, Syria, or Gaza,” and said the IDF would continue operating from Mount Hermon, the Lebanese mountains, Samaria, and most of Gaza against jihadist threats following the lessons of October 7.
Regarding Judea and Samaria, Katz stated the IDF “will not withdraw from the terror camps in northern Samaria,” which have been evacuated of residents, and said the measure could be expanded to additional terror camps if necessary.
Katz added: “Our security doctrine is sharp and clear: we act against threats both near and far, and we strive for decisive outcomes rather than compromises or concessions.”
Katz expressed appreciation to IDF commanders and soldiers, and to northern residents for their steadfastness. He also sent support to bereaved families and wished a full physical and mental recovery to the wounded.
🔸 IRAN AND U.S. SIGNAL PROGRESS TOWARD AGREEMENT: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated: “The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content. In line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.”
US Vice President JD Vance stated: "I'm seeing a lot of fake information about a potential deal to reopen the Strait and end Iran's nuclear weapons program. First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies concerns are prioritized, and that if Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region. This deal has the potential to remake the region and lead to lasting peace".
A White House official added: "Iran has agreed to a performance-based deal requiring major concessions before receiving any sanctions relief. Iran's nuclear material would be destroyed and removed, its nuclear program dismantled, and no funds released until commitments are fulfilled. The Strait of Hormuz would remain open and Iran would agree to stop funding proxy groups."
⚓ WASHINGTON POST REVEALS FAILED QATAR-IRAN BACKCHANNEL OVER GAS FACILITY: The Washington Post reported that Qatar sought assurances from Iran at the beginning of the war that the Ras Laffan gas complex would not be targeted.
According to the report, Doha proposed a secret arrangement under which Qatar would temporarily halt gas production in order to increase economic pressure on the United States and Israel to end the conflict more quickly. Qatari officials argued Iran could achieve its objectives without attacking Qatari territory.
Officials said Iran never provided a formal guarantee that the facility would be spared. The report added that the CIA and senior Trump administration officials were aware of the back-channel contacts.
Despite the efforts, Iran later struck the Ras Laffan complex, damaging parts of the facility and disrupting energy operations. The incident reportedly complicated Qatar’s role as a mediator between Washington and Tehran.
🗣️ NETANYAHU DESCRIBES DISPUTE WITH WASHINGTON OVER RESPONSE POLICY: According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Netanyahu said President Trump pressured him to limit Israel's response following an Iranian missile attack.
Netanyahu said Trump asked him: "Did they kill any of your people?" Netanyahu said he replied that he was not willing to accept a situation in which Israel responds only when casualties occur, adding that any attack on Israeli territory would be met with retaliation.
Addressing ministers, Netanyahu also rejected suggestions that Israel was dependent on Washington, saying: "We are not subordinate to the Americans; we are their allies".
