NEW: Dept of Labor is preparing to fine Amazon $60K for workplace safety hazards.

-a 90 lb TV spraining a shoulder
-a bed cutting a worker's nose
Proud of the brave workers of ALB1 regardless of todays results taking on a Trillion dollar company can never be a loss for workers. We will continue to empower all workers to give them the right to unionize. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take! W.G. #AlllaborWinter ✊🏽
We’ve seen this character lurking around KSBD recently too! Trying to divide us by race implying to our coworkers that Latinos don’t join walkouts. IE AWU has been confronting union-busters like Juan head on, making sure our coworkers stay woke to their hidden agenda!
During our election, Amazon argued we don’t need a union because the company has an “open door policy” that associates can use to address concerns. Hundreds of workers used it at once, and we were all threatened and suspended.
After working at Amazon’s RDU1 distribution center in North Carolina for two years, former employee Albert Elliott was terminated in a suspected act of retaliation for his organizing efforts.

We walked out to demand better working conditions at KSBD. @Amazon responded w/more retaliation.
We're giving Amazon until Oct 10 to meet our demands:
✅Living Wage
✅Safety on the Job
✅No Retaliation
⏰COUNTDOWN STARTS TODAY⏰

ALB1 has closed for the day. While this is the correct response to a fire and we’re glad workers will be given time off until it’s safe to return, it’s simultaneously infuriating that nearly 100 workers were suspended at JFK8 for demanding the same thing two days ago. @OSHA_DOL
Workers in the USA have the right to refuse to work in unsafe conditions. You have to KNOW your rights to DEFEND your rights, bc bosses obviously can’t be trusted to follow the law 🧵
My heart goes out to all the ALB1 @amazon workers in Schodack, NY I hope and pray every worker was evacuated safely🙏🏾This is the third facility to catch on fire. We’ll be checking on workers at JFK8, ALB1, and HSV1 to ensure their safety! Solidarity
We’ve received word from ALB1 workers that the Schodack warehouse is currently on fire. We are urging all of our brothers and sisters to be safe and we will report updates as we receive them.
Amazon's response to our genuine concerns has been despicable and full of lies. At this time, management is circulating that as many as 80 workers who were involved in the work stoppage were suspended. That is not, as their PR team claims, a "handful."
Amazon suspends 50 workers for stopping work during a fire emergency, Starbucks fires their ~120th union leader for wearing a pin, Apple busts a union in NYC.
CEOs are openly running roughshod over federally-protected rights to form unions.
Who's going to stop them?
@Shut_downAmazon Once again my brothers and sisters we the people warn Amazon and send a message to other modern day slave machines disguised as companies that we are done with being used, abused and confused when it comes to our safety #staystrong#GenerationU#powerinnumbers

THIS is what community looks like. Workers at JFK8 demanded to be sent home with PAY. Enough is enough it’s time for amazon to put safety over profits and also it’s time for @amazon to stop stalling and negotiate a better contract with @amazonlabor
