2,500 Galaxies in 1 Frame
Webb continues the tradition of Hubble by observing areas of the sky that seem empty. Previously, such areas were often filled with thousands of distant galaxies that were invisible to the naked eye. As part of the new project, Webb was directed to the area already studied by Hubble and 100 hours of continuous observations were conducted.
The result is an image that records about 2,500 astronomical objects, most of which are galaxies located at enormous distances, right up to the edge of the observable Universe. This data will help astronomers study the early stages of galaxy formation, the structure of the cosmic web, and the properties of intergalactic space.
