Your feelings and experiences are valid — and worth sharing! Have a story you want to tell? Consider writing an essay for The Issue! Have something shorter you want to get off your chest? Perhaps a “Rant” would suit you better. (1/2)
We’ve been up and running for over a year now. Thank you for sharing your stories and reading others. We appreciate you talking, listening and learning with us. And we hope you’ll take the time today to go back and read our first Issue: https://t.co/pVpWEtNkhI

The Issue began as “a way for me to find my voice,” said Editor-in-chief, Allyson Barkley in our first ever newsletter, #TheConsentIssue. In it, she wrote the following about the purpose of her essay, (Not) My Fault:
this story, like those to come in “The Issue,” helps you to recognize those truths, too... With these stories, I hope that we can begin to shrink the gap between any marginalized group’s experiences of oppression and the rest of our society’s understanding of that oppression.”

“A few months after the incident, I am determined to raise my voice when those of us who represent diversity continue to be the object of attacks, however many times it is necessary, despite the discomfort that this causes for those who prefer to whisper, point, & revictimize.”
Here at The Issue, we’re all about being active bystanders, rather than passive. We hope you will spend some time today considering how you can get involved and break the barriers to intervention.
https://t.co/2fPySqyU1S let’s make sure we value the protestors who have shaped this country. Black Americans who have fought for love, dignity and respect.
If you prefer to read in English, you will find that content at the bottom of the page. We hope you’ll visit the link below to read her essay, “Que nuestras voces se escuchen,” from #TheJusticeIssue.

This week's Issue includes text in both English and Spanish! Our contributor chose to tell her story in Spanish, so we have published that portion first. (2/3)
“Because ultimately, speaking of situations like these reminds them that the society of the American Dream where people and families pose in happy photos with big carefree smiles is no more than an illusion that is cracking each day...” (1/3)

Tomorrow we’ll release #TheJusticeIssue, an essay (written in both English AND Spanish!) that highlights the responsibilities we have as individuals, and the duty of those in positions of power, to keep us all safe. (3/4)

Have you read our latest RANT? In our 19th Issue, Catherine Valentine reminded us all to be conscious of our words and consider more carefully how we project our own opinions - and even insecurities - upon others.
