When I worked in public affairs, I spent so long explaining to people that politicians spend a lot of time and energy to avoid a direct lie - that’s why they give such waffle-y answers in interviews. Can’t say that anymore!
An actual government minister - Maria Caulfield - is now on Sky News claiming Keir Starmer wants to do a four-day week in No10.
It's immediately pointed out that's not true.
James Anderson's final Test will take place after the UK General Election. If that election results in a new Prime Minister, he will set a new England record as the first to play Tests during the tenures of eight PMs.
@SouthLondonGirl Chicken thighs, leeks, green beans, peas, jersey royals, stock, cream. No booze (boo). Was bloody delicious tho husband complained about the cream as it was unnecessarily fattening. Killjoy.
Look, all I’m saying is that Marcus Rashford goes out for a night in Belfast and days later there’s a return to devolved government in Northern Ireland.
"Electoral Calculus gives Labour a 90% chance of retaking Penistone and Stocksbridge seat in the next election. What Miriam Cates thinks about anything almost certainly does not, in the grand scheme of things, matter." https://t.co/ID90NEdzq9
@virginmedia we’ve had no TV service for a week now, and the fix date keeps getting pushed back. Absolutely no proactive comms/update from you at all - what’s the problem, and will we be reimbursed for the service we haven’t had?
@virginmedia That auto comp link only applies to HBB and phone - but it’s ridiculous to expect me to pay for a service I won’t have had for over a week!
@JohnLocker_UK Thanks John - it’s been far too long and would love to catch up in the new year. @CoralieFrost and I keep threatening another TT reunion, so hopefully we’ll sort something out before too long!
Right. Getting fed up of the Meghan/Archie/skin colour discourse, so here’s my 2p worth that literally no-one has asked for.
Yes, it’s a natural conversation to have, but it is *all* about context and tone. 1/5
So it could’ve been harmless speculation; it could’ve been more pointed - and, equally, both sides could’ve interpreted the same conversation in totally different ways. But unless you were there, it’s pointless to make assumptions either way. Hope that helps. 5/5
I can totally see a situation where almost THE EXACT SAME conversation can be/feel more challenging and less friendly. Especially in a family where someone turned up for your first formal gathering wearing a golliwog brooch, so… 🤷🏽♀️ 4/5
