Another Temperate Coral Research Conference @myrwu in the books! Exciting to be watching this field move forward so quickly, and to discuss how we can apply the #astrangiathings we’ve learned to address climate change threats on our temperate and tropical marine ecosystems alike!
Excited to announce my first first author manuscript on SCTLD genetics is now published ! Thank you to @Lexacorallia @CnidaRyan @VossLaboratory and our RRC collaborators Karen Neely and Brian Walker for all your guidance ! https://t.co/vhpb2WuYLk
My first first author paper is officially published! If you’re interested in Astrangia, reproduction, and energetic budgets, check it out!! :) https://t.co/mQyOz7WLOM
Excited to share our latest preprint on the stony coral Astrangia poculata! We present a suite of tools to manipulate gene function including gene knock-in positioning Astrangia as a powerful model for coral development and evolution. More here 👇:

The Babonis Lab at Cornell University is hiring a full-time technician to start in January 2024 (or sooner). We use marine inverts to understand how novel traits arise. (And we have a confocal - eeek!)

Had so much fun presenting a poster at the @SACNAS diversity in stem conference this year. I truly felt like my cultures were celebrated and it was such a breath of fresh air to be surrounded by people of similar ethnic backgrounds in stem

Thrilled our paper “Porites astreoides coral populations demonstrate high clonality and connectivity in southeast Florida” is out (see link). I appreciate my co-authors tremendous help SO much as I dipped my toes into the popgen world! Not open access, but you can DM me for a pdf
101 F is 38 degrees C. The coral pathogen we work on (Vibrio coralliilyticus) will die at that temperature. Let that sink in. This is beyond "just a hot summer"
