@CarlBovisNature Last yellow hammer I saw was 40 years ago in Suffolk. In our house when I was little Canary Pudding was known as Yellow Hammer pudding. It was a lemon steamed pudding. 😋

@mitchellsnik Yes. I find a lot of these but I think they are rose chafer grubs as I see a lot of those all summer. Do the grubs look the same? I always relocate to my compost heap. I spotted the first one about a week ago.

How many people out there are giving wildflowers a chance by leaving areas of their gardens uncut this year? Please RT if you are offering a lifeline to pollinators like bees, butterflies, moths, hoverflies and bats by mowing less!

Please consider letting a little patch of garden grow wild, as this allows wildflowers to grow. Some wild plants - like dead nettle, nettles and cuckoo flower - are vital food plants for moth and butterfly caterpillars.

@bertsbooks The Philosopher and The Wolf. I’m actually looking forward to my 3am insomnia hours to read it! I finished it at 4am today and will start it again tonight. It’s one of those sorts of books.
