@_JordanDecker @pucksanddreams_ CL himself said he was skating pre draft then Waddle said he started skating in October so appears that way but CBJ could be playing it cautious. Only missing ~ 20 games and spending the past 4 months with NHL development, trainers, strength staff is not the worst outcome.

@pucksanddreams_ @_JordanDecker Waddle said over the weekend the team plans to send him back to MH when he is 100%. Barring setbacks that should be next week when the team returns from the west coast.

Waking up this morning confirmed the worst of nightmares last night.

In all respects Johnny was a leader, an incredible person to those who needed it most, and an inspiration to those around him.

I’ll remember his charity work, his glowing personality, his contributions to USA Hockey, Boston College, Calgary, Columbus, and every other org he played with.

I mourn for him and his family, his wife and kids that will never see him again because of this disaster.

I mourn for his younger brother, Matthew, who we should not forget also had his life tragically taken away.

I mourn for his sister, who was preparing, practicing, and setting up her wedding tomorrow.

I mourn for every soul Johnny touched, for Columbus fans who’ve already gone through too much with Matiss Kivlenieks before. Take care of yourselves today and don’t forget to breathe, drink water, go for a walk outside. If you need a hug, I will always be there.

Life isn’t fair. It isn’t fair taking the two young men away far too early. It isn’t fair taking away the people we love.

What you can tangibly do now in the present, is to stop yourself and stop others you know from drunk driving in the moment. It’s a choice, and active one.

It doesn’t matter what’s convenient or cheaper or not. Call an uber. Order an uber for your friend. It’s not hard. Your $20 are not more valuable than a human life.

Live like Johnny lived. Unafraid to do the impossible. Give your joy to others and help those who need it. Live a life you will be proud of when it’s over.

And lastly, hug your spouse, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, acquaintances, or anyone you know today. You never know when they might be gone. Life is too fragile to holdback our love.

Be kind today, folks. And everyday always choose to be kind.
