Pakistan is facing the risk of worsening liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shortages and further price increases amid disruptions to the LPG supply chain and the continued closure of the border with Iran.

🔸 According to sources within Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the closure of the Iranian border is one of the main factors behind the country’s current LPG crisis, with supply disruptions leading to higher prices.

🔻 According to the report, Pakistan meets around 70% of its LPG demand through imports, nearly 50% of which comes from Iran. The country also imports LPG from Iraq and Oman; however, according to the same sources, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted supply routes from these two countries as well.

Two of Iran's strategic neighbors, Pakistan and Iraq have complied with US orders and are now cutting major land routes connecting them with Iran. The restrictions are limiting the flow of imports and exports between Iran and its neighbors.

US has now effectively isolated Iran from two of its key neighboring countries and is pushing it closer to isolation from the rest of the world.

US and Israel are now preparing for possible najor strikes against Iranian military and infrastructure targets.

Iran has halted LPG imports to Pakistan following its compliance with the US sanctions closing border with it, triggering shortages and sharp price rises.

Pakistan has openly sided the U.S and Saudi Arabia against Iran, while compromising the its energy sectors.

Pakistan imports more than 7000 metric tones of LPG from Iran daily.

🇵🇰 🇮🇷 Iranian businessman Babak Zanjani has threatened to halt gas exports to Pakistan and redirect trade through the Rimdan border crossing in a video posted on his X account.

Zanjani said truck drivers and thousands of vehicles belonging to DotOne have been facing difficulties at the Rimdan border crossing for around 60 days.

He warned that if Pakistan continues its border restrictions, Iran may stop exporting gas to Pakistan.

Zanjani,say this move could lead to higher gas prices in Pakistan in the coming days and create further difficulties during the winter.
