The Royal Necropolis of Meroe is really a must-see in the country!
Listed as World Heritage by UNESCO since 2011, this masterpiece of the Meroitic Kingdom is one of the monuments most important founds in the entire African continent.

The Royal necropolis of Meroe is located at about 3 km from the Nile and 230 km north of Khartoum, on some hills covered by yellow sand dunes. More than 40 pyramids stand out with their sharp shapes against the clear sky.

Around the Tombos area, not all the relevant things to see are underground and yet to be discovered...
Not so far from here we can find an open-air #museum, with many rock #engravings showing us the #lifestyle of our #ancestors thousands of years ago 😮

Heading north from #Karima, near the 3rd cataract of the #Nile river, we find another relevant area where many #excavations were made during the last years...

Surely one of the reasons why Gebel Barkal and the Napatan region are in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage sites is... the Tawentamani tomb ⬇️
The feeling inside the funerary chamber of the 4th Pharaoh of the XXV Dynasty, ruler of Sudan and Egypt, is indescribable 😮

Today we want to share a video of another relevant site of Sudan, we are talking about Jebel Barkal (UNESCO world heritage site) an hill that has been strongly associated with religious traditions and folklore ⬇️
