My colleagues and I had an engaging conversation with Prof @Phoebe_Okowa, a leading legal scholar who is currently Professor of Public International Law at Queen Mary University of London @QMUL and an international legal practitioner of almost three decades’ standing.

Prof. Okowa is an African of many firsts. She is part of a growing number of African women jurists who are making their mark within international legal circles and are bringing the unique African experiences, notions and conceptions to bear on the growth of international law.

She was elected to the International Law Commission (ILC) in November 2021 to represent #Kenya for a term starting in January 2023 and is in New York for meetings of the ILC.

We are proud of Prof. Okowa’s scholarship and her distinguished track record in groundbreaking international legal cases and will be happy to support her in her quest to continue contributing to legal scholarship and practice.

The government that begged you for votes is the same one killing you like rats in the night.

The same government will come back with false promises after spilling your blood, not for rituals or anything,
But because they can, and that's how worthless they think your lives are.

The same government ensures you don’t have lighting or clean water.
The same government shoots your babies in your houses when you step out to look for vegetables.

The same government is calling me to dialogue, Githurai.

The same one that uses your blood to clean roads, and your dead children as political tools.

They're asking me to dialogue with this government Githurai.

They're asking me to stay home and let them work, as if I haven’t stayed home for the past 2 years.
When I was home, they were flying and lying. Now I’m on the streets. They’re home and still lying.

They're asking me to betray you so they can keep lining their pockets, Githurai.

I refuse to do it!
I refuse to betray the blood of your sons and daughters.
I refuse to betray the blood of your lovers.
I refuse to spite the songs of your hearts.

This is why I rage on,
