My name is Grace, I am learning, unlearning, and helping your brand do the same.
PLEASE, UNLEARN THIS FROM ME.
Two days ago, my brother and I were helping my mum at her shop.
She had gone to work, so we stayed back to manage things till evening.
Around 6pm, my brother asked,
“Should I start packing the goods inside?”
I've realized that sometimes, growth isn’t about always being right, but being real enough to admit when you’ve missed it. Very important.
And that was exactly what I did.😅
That being said, please don't tell me I am the only one on this table.🤌
It's the fact that sometimes, we’re too quick to teach others lessons we haven’t fully mastered ourselves.
Maybe in a bid to sound smart, look experienced, or act like we’ve got it all figured out.
Meanwhile, we’re still learning, unlearning, and re-learning every single day.
Omo, business expert in the mud.😂
I turned to my brother and said, “ehm, please, it's like you will unlearn this one o.” 😂
We both laughed really hard, but I picked a lesson from what had happened.
Seconds later, I told my brother to bring me some change for the woman, meanwhile, the money she gave me was the exact amount the item was sold for.
The woman looked at me, surprised and said, “no o, you're not giving me any change, I gave you the exact amount.”
She agreed to buy, and at this point I was already feeling like a full business expert.
I jokingly turned to my brother and asked, “Hope you’re learning from me?” 😎
He smiled and nodded his head in agreement.
I was like, “uhm…wait a bit. Someone might still come to buy something.”
And just like that, someone actually walked up to us and asked for the price of an item.
We bargained, and I told her, “That’s the last price.”
If you are a brand owner reading this, please stay original.
Becoming a photocopy will cost you more.
You can be inspired by some else's content, but don’t lose your own voice in the process.
Authenticity should be your biggest marketing strategy.
Don't be a copycat.😌
Okay?
There's a whole drama going on about people repackaging old iPhone XR and selling them as iPhone 17 in Nigeria.
Crazy!😅
But that’s not even the gist that got me.
despite his cloths being worn-out.
He also mentioned that ever since his friend's iphone developed fault, he has refused to repair it here in Nigeria, and has been using a back up phone.
A Nigerian chef shared a post explaining how his Chinese friend said Nigerians in the importation business are just too greedy, and also recounted how he'll rather wait till he gets back to his country (China) to get new cloths, instead of getting them here in Nigeria,
Just because a post went viral for brand ‘A’ doesn’t mean it’ll do the same for you.
If you copy someone’s content without their context, you’ll just end up sounding like a repackaged iPhone XR trying to convince people you’re an iPhone 17. 😅
But this is the same thing I see happen on social media.
People copy posts, styles, captions, and even strategies from other brands without understanding why those things worked for them in the first place.
About 20 minutes later, someone copied the exact same post word for word, and pasted it as a comment under a totally different post.
No credit.
No mention.
Nothing.
Like this lady just woke up with this divine inspiration from scratch.😩
Like, the audadicity.
There’s this brand I’ve been managing since January.
We’ve built something beautiful together(strategy, clarity, and results that actually showed.)
Then one day, I started noticing something odd.
The designs weren’t aligning with the content calendar I created.
