Forgive my tears…this one was tough. Thank you to every Warlock + Guardian who kept this legendary game alive for these past wonderful years. It has been an honor and privilege to have taken this journey with you. See you starside… 💙

AND SUDDENLY YOU'RE 26-27 SITTING ALONE IN YOUR ROOM, PARENTS ARE OLD, YOUR SIBLINGS ARE MARRIED AND BUSY WITH THEIR OWN FAMILIES AND THERE'S NO ONE YOU CAN TALK TO AND NO ONE CHECKS ON YOU.
WHAT IS IT CALLED — LONELINESS OR FREEDOM. WHATEVER IT IS, IT IS HEAVY.
🚨Former Destiny 2 senior narrative designer Robert Brookes says a proper Xivu Arath campaign and raid were pitched multiple times for Destiny 2:
"You'd be surprised how many times this was pitched for D2" - https://t.co/Zi49ZUXx1j
At its best, content was a machine to create memories and friendships. No new content stings.
This pain is about losing a place where so many memories were made. It stings not because of what it was, but the realization of what it won't be.

For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.
As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.
Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.
We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.
From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
Bungie is planning a “significant round” of layoffs following ending Destiny 2 content

I just can't come to terms with this man
We might never do a day 1 raid again. Might never feel that feeling of working together to solve an ARG or secret in this amazing world. Might never feel that sense of community again.
I dont fucking get it. I just dont fucking get it
So let me get this straight:
-We never solved the curse of the Dreaming City
-We never bound the Nine
-We never saw Old Chicago
-We never found Xivu f***ing Arath
That’s it. It just…ends. Cliffhangers and plot holes.
My time in Destiny has been nothing short of life-changing, but nah, I can’t sit well with that. I truly hope that when the June 9th update hits, the @DestinyTheGame@Bungie dev team sits down, either goes live or Vlogs/ViDocs, & gives us an honest retrospective of where we’re at, what they ‘want’ to happen, what they’re pursuing, and where we’re going so far - even if it’s half a decade away.
If we’re hitting closure, give us closure.
I will never understand this decision.. heartbreaking news, an amazing game with a dedicated community and no competition just going down the drain. It could of been so much more and so much bigger. I will definitely cherish my destiny moment and I am happy about it.
RIP DESTINY
“To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2..”
My heart.. is.. shattered…
My favorite game of all time 😔
Destiny made a mark on me as a player first. Getting a chance to work in that world is an honor I'll never fully be able to repay. Both in and out of game, Destiny 2 forged the core memories that made me who I am today. Thanks to everyone who brought the tower to life everyday.
still can’t believe it’s actually over. a sad ending for a game that deserved better 💔
it has been an honor covering Destiny 2 for the last 9 years, through the reveals, raids, dungeons, stories, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories this community created together
thank you for sticking around for nearly a decade 🫶
I don’t know what to say.
There will be another time. But saying goodbye like this is more painful than I can fathom.
I dedicated my life to bringing you the stories of this world. I can only hope that the road doesn’t end here for good.
Video coming soon.
