I watched Oversabi Aunty yesterday and let me say this: Toyin Abraham deserves a standing ovation for bringing real-life realities into acting. 👏🏽

This movie is emotional, deep, and packed with powerful life lessons. These are my key takeaways:

1️⃣ Stop policing other people’s children.
While you’re busy correcting other people’s children, your own may be doing the same things under your roof. Parenting starts from home.

2️⃣ Control your anger.
Uncontrolled anger destroys relationships and lives. One angry moment in this movie changed everything forever.

3️⃣ Listen to your children.
Be attentive and emotionally present. Talk to them gently, don’t shout them down or neglect them. You may not know what they’re going through.

4️⃣ Always communicate your whereabouts.
Children should inform their parents or guardians where they’re going. Life is unpredictable, and communication can prevent tragic outcomes.

5️⃣ Don’t judge people.
While judging others, you may forget that your own house is on fire.

6️⃣ A mother is everything.
Despite all her flaws, motherhood took over. Oversabi Aunty stood in for her child and made the ultimate sacrifice. That scene broke me 🥲.

Toyin Abraham truly finished work on this project. Oversabi Aunty’s self-righteous and intrusive attitude damaged her family, showing a painful reality: wanting the best for your children without listening to them can still destroy everything.

This movie exposes what many children go through in the hands of “good” but emotionally unavailable parents,homes in chaos while attention is focused outside.
