I was “black” when I read The Odyssey in high school...

...but somehow I never imagined the characters as looking like me.

Why?

Because they were GREEK characters.

I didn’t need Odysseus to look like me to appreciate his story.

I didn’t need Helen of Troy to look like me to understand her importance.

They were Greek characters from a specific culture, with a specific history.

And this is what Hollywood keeps getting wrong.

We don’t identify with characters because they look like us.

We connect with them because we recognize something human in them - their struggles, their courage, their flaws, their values.

Odysseus is a GREEK hero.

Helen of Troy is a GREEK woman.

Their identities are part of what makes their stories meaningful.

Casting Colombians and Africans and Indians as Greek ISN'T "representation."

On their most recent blog post, Sony says they are adapting to cosumer trends, as gamers prefere digital significanly over physical.

Notice how it's aways "for the gamer" and never "to cut costs?"

GTA 6 did this, and GTA 6 will lead the way for $100 base games from now on.

Ungrateful? Homie it has everything to do with scummy practices. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 showed that you can deliver a game for a great price ($49.99) and they didn’t lock not a single feature behind a pay wall. In fact, they gave us the expansion for free! The fact that you can’t do everything in GTA VI without paying $100 for the ultimate edition is scummy. That’s corporate greed! They did that on purpose because they wanted people to pay $100 for this game. Idgaf that this game cost Rockstar $2 billion to make. They can easily make that back without charging this price. It’s Rockstar! And when GTA Online drops for this game, their shark cards about to go crazy! Charging $100 for the full game is terrible and they know it. You know it. All of us know it. This will set a bad precedent for other games to follow.
