Engineer Janelle Wellons discusses lunar exploration in JPL’s Deep Space Network mission control, which played a key communication role in the Apollo missions and continues to communicate with missions across the solar system today. https://t.co/4LgEAWHBrO #Moon2Mars
Mission Milestone 7 ✅!
We are excited to share that, on its 100th day in space, our HAKUTO-R Mission 1 lunar lander is now safely orbiting the Moon following a successful lunar orbit insertion maneuver!
Women are making incredible contributions to our mission at ispace, from Engineers to Accountants and every role in between. Their hard work and dedication are paving the way for a more inclusive future in the space industry. (1/2)
You might know I carry a “pet rock” in my left front wheel, which tumbled in there over a year ago. But did you know others have joined the journey too? I’ve picked up two additional hitchhikers, in my right front and rear wheels. Fine by me – let’s keep rolling!
#Milestones2023: Dec 11. saw the successful launch of @ispace_inc’s🚀 unmanned lunar lander - part of their #LunarExploration program to put Japan's first commercial lander on the #Moon🌛. It'll land on the Moon around April 2023!

Mission Milestone 4 ✅!
Our Ops Team has successfully completed the first orbital control maneuver, setting the HAKUTO-R Mission 1 lander on a course towards the Moon and verifying operation of the main propulsion system, among other critical systems.
.. and, just to remind ourselves that dedicated humans enable such missions, here are two engineers whose life circles I intersected earlier and who will be in the ops room: One @UMengineering grad and one former @NASAJPL-er… #GoodLuck
It has been a real honor reviewing the hundreds of submissions from passionate science communicators and am so appreciative to have been a part of the process #SciCommFutures
In anticipation of announcing our 2022 Winners in October, I'm excited to share that I've spent the past year
serving on the Awards for Excellence in Science Communication committee, given by @theNASEM in
partnership with @SchmidtFutures. #SciCommFutures
