TL;DR
Physical copies of games are just licenses to play games. Only benefit of owning a physical copy is being able to resell it and adding them to your physical collection that you can look at.
Digital games will forever be more convenient.
Just saw a comment on here talking about this and I kinda agree.
Physical discs are just plastic circular thingys. They contain the code (aka the license key) and that code is scanned from the disc and literally acts as a license.
“You’re not actually owning the game when you buy it digitally” - false.
Even physical discs are technically “digital”. Makes sense why Rockstar Games isn’t wasting their time with physical discs and are only putting digital download codes in their “physical copies”.
Not too bad honestly. That’s literally the industry standard for games here in the UK.
Also those being made about the pricing, I’ll remind you, we’re gonna have to wait another 10+ years for a new GTA..
(MUCH better than the £70/year from COD and prolly other games too)
Here’s my take:
Rockstar isn’t selling the disc in their physical copies because:
- They want to minimise any leaks.
- Rockstar is allowing players to preload GTA VI even with their “physical copies” so they can play on launch day as soon as it’s released.
See thread..
Rockstar Games will probably update their physical copies after their official launch on the 19th of November.
Physical copies sold after the 19th of November will likely contain the actual disc.
