The more I read the replies on this post the sadder I get, many of the people replying I have tried working for them and now I’m seeing that the people that got the job I wanted just basically threw it away

Can't believe this needs to be mentioned, but you really shouldn't say bad things about your clients publicly. I've seen video editors say "some of my clients are unfunny and I can't find good clips to edit," and "some of my clients have designs I really hate." It doesn't matter if you don't name them. It is very unprofessional, and it will affect you negatively for a long time.

If you want to vent, you should do so with friends you trust, in private.

I edit for both large and smaller content creators and I don’t give priority for one over the other. I have a set turnaround time and that applies to everyone. Also if your argument is that someone isn’t funny then idk why you taking them as clients when you will be looking at their content for hours.
Let’s be more positive, one of the best things about editing is turning any joke into an even funnier joke through timings or sound effects.
To me if your work in this space you have to try to always see the positive in things to not get burnt out

i hired an editor for a time and when we discussed potential long-form video ideas that i was really excited about, they'd say things like "this would work really well for a bigger creator but not you because nobody cares about you."

and it like actually wrecked my self-confidence in content creation ngl

i also hired them to make clips from my subathon last year while it was going and they ghosted me until almost the end of it even though i saw them still editing for my friends/peers who are bigger content creators than me

the overall experience with them just made me feel like no matter how funny or engaging i am, it won't actually matter because i'm not already a big content creator or well known in this space

I decided to make a "Windows XP" inspired template for myself to upload before and after videos.

It's been so long since I used Photoshop that I decided just to make everything inside of Fusion in Davinci Resolve.
