@patrickw41 @AustinFrey55@rtcox89 @MariahXHoard @mathsman11 @MackDaddyScott @CastilloBr12747@HoneyBucketHero@CrossFitGames Unfortunately water temp doesnโt change drastically in a 24 hour period, so while the air could have been cooler, the water could still be hovering in that 90 degree range. But there were probably multiple factors
@jordymo22 @ranch974 @zathansimpson@CastilloBr12747@CrossFitGames Those two guards don't even appear to have cans... The cans are to put separation between the drowning victim and the rescuer because rescuers can be pulled under by the distressed swimmer... So yes, CrossFit is to blame for not staffing water patrol appropriately.
@MariahXHoard @rtcox89@mathsman11 @MackDaddyScott @CastilloBr12747@HoneyBucketHero@CrossFitGames I turned 40 two weeks ago, currently do CrossFit as a hobby, swam in high school, surfed competitively, and I stand by this being a water safety patrol issue. Competing at anything is dangerous, and that lake was not staffed for safety. It's tragic.
@rtcox89 @MackDaddyScott @CastilloBr12747@HoneyBucketHero@CrossFitGames 100%. You could also tell he was feeling off when he switched from free to breast stroke. Water patrol was abysmal, and did the paddle board guards even have cans?
@DirkDavidson@CastilloBr12747@HoneyBucketHero@CrossFitGames I've been a part of so many run/swim/runs as an ocean lifeguard โ people compete in that way often. The problem here is what we see...inadequate safety patrol measures. There should be multiple skis with stokes baskets patrolling at all times (didn't see that) etc.
