I recently saw a pastor make a passive aggressive post about the emotional needs of women. The pastor went on to say (when asked) that “it’s hard to say” what’s meant by the term “emotional needs” but that “people sure talk about them a lot.”

A man who mocks women, or pretends he doesn’t know what your emotional needs are, is revealing his own insecurity and emotional stuntedness.

In marriage, men experience peace as the absence of conflict.

Women experience peace as the presence of connection.

Women need husbands who can live with us in an understanding way. He needs to practice shalom—peace. This looks like active pursuit of your heart—an entering into your world in a way akin to the way Jesus entered into this world to redeem His Bride.

Women have needs that are totally different from a man’s—we need tenderness and understanding in ways that are different from men. We need to feel connected to our men; we need more than the absence of conflict.

Lately, I’m more convinced a lot of men are spiritual homosexuals—they want wives that look and feel like women but they want them to think and behave like men. In this sense, they are liberal feminists—the very people they say they despise.
