🟠 #BREAKING: LABOR IS QUIETLY PAYING JOURNALIST WAGES AT 184 NEWSROOMS 🟠

Anika Wells' $67.6 million Journalism Assistance Fund is part paying the wages of more than 2,000 journalists, and more than half the money went to just four ownership groups.

Nine took $16.1 million. Seven's side of the new Southern Cross group took $11.3 million. Crikey, The Conversation, The Saturday Paper and Mamamia are all there.

News Corp, Sky News and The Guardian were barred from even applying. Opinion writing doesn't count as news under the government's own rules. And no funded newsroom ever has to tell its readers.

The fund ran dry in 28 days. One recipient was two days old. Another collapsed five weeks later.

Australia is drowning in unskilled migration.

Last year, only 1 in 3 of the 180,000 permanent visas issued by Labor were given to a skilled migrant.

Even worse, the "skilled" list includes jobs like Amusement Centre Manager, Cafe or Restaurant Manager, Dance Teacher (Private Tuition), Dancer or Choreographer, Dog Handler or Trainer, Driving Instructor, Florist, Snowsport Instructor and zookeeper among others.

Rather than being transparent about their horrific record on immigration, Labor are engaging in one of the only things they know: lies.

It turns out that last year, of the approx 130,000 skilled migrants who gained visas, over half are family members connected to "skilled" migrants, not "skilled" migrants themselves! How misleading for the Labor government to present these "secondary applicants", very often dependents, as themselves "skilled" migrants. I consider @Keir_Starmer a friend and I'm thinking of him on what must be a very tough day.

Serving in public life is a tremendous privilege but politics can also be a harsh business.

When the time comes for Keir to leave Downing Street, he can be proud of the contribution he has made to the country he loves and to the Labour Party that he led back to Government in 2024.

I'm grateful for the opportunities we had to work together to strengthen our AUKUS defence and security partnership, support the brave people of Ukraine and keep children safe from the damage that social media can do.

I wish Keir, Victoria and their children well with everything the future holds.
