Mashujaa Day 2026: Honouring Our Heroes, Celebrating Our Progress
As Kenya prepares to mark Mashujaa Day on 20 October 2026, the iconic Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret is taking shape as a symbol of Kenya’s resilience, ambition and transformation. The stadium embodies a thriving sports ecosystem, strengthens our sporting infrastructure, reinforces the North Rift’s historic place as the heartland of world athletics, and demonstrates Kenya’s capacity to host major continental sporting events.
In a historic first, Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeiyo-Marakwet Counties are jointly co-hosting this national celebration, bringing Kenyans together to honour the brave heroes and heroines who fought for our independence while setting the stage for a new era of national transformation.
Under the theme “Sports, Security, Economy/Finance,” this year’s celebrations will begin with a one-week exhibition bringing together Ministries, Departments, Agencies and State Corporations at Eldoret Polytechnic.
Beyond the concrete and steel, Kipchoge Keino Stadium symbolizes Kenya’s enduring spirit of resilience, discipline and excellence on the global sporting stage. Its transformation further positions Eldoret as a premier sports hub and strengthens Kenya’s capacity to host athletes, teams, media and football fans from across Africa and beyond.
The Kenya Vision 2030 Exhibition Tent will provide an interactive platform for visitors to explore Kenya’s development journey, the achievements and impact of Vision 2030, and the ongoing process of shaping the country’s next long-term development vision Beyond 2030. It will be an opportunity to reflect on the journey we have travelled, the progress we have made and the possibilities that lie ahead as Kenya continues to build on the foundations laid through the Kenya Vision 2030 Economic Blueprint.
Join us in Eldoret as we celebrate our Shujaas; and every Kenyan who has contributed to the progress we have made towards the goals set out in the Kenya Vision 2030 Economic Blueprint.
Honouring our past. Celebrating our progress. Shaping our future.

In the song 'Githurai' by Mr. Googz & Vinnie Banton, the line “Excuse Mr. John you don’t really have to play me” was a direct shot at John Wilkins, then Programmes Controller at Capital FM and no fan of local music.
John later moved to Kiss 100… becoming a legend at Radio Africa

The visit provided a first-hand opportunity to learn about Enzi’s development of electric motorcycles designed for Kenya’s boda boda and delivery market, as well as its broader vision of building a sustainable e-mobility ecosystem.
The guests were taken through the technology behind the Enzi G5 electric motorcycle, including its battery system, performance capabilities and design features suited to Kenyan roads and commercial riders. They also gained insights into the company’s battery-swapping and charging infrastructure, which is being developed to make electric mobility more practical and accessible. The Enzi G5 is designed to provide up to 130 kilometres of range on a full charge and a maximum load capacity of 250 kilograms.
The engagement further highlighted the economic and environmental potential of transitioning from petrol-powered to electric motorcycles. Enzi’s model seeks to lower operating costs for riders while supporting cleaner and more sustainable transport. The company is also developing local technical capacity in electric vehicle design, battery technology and mobility solutions, demonstrating how innovation can create new businesses, skills and employment opportunities within Kenya’s growing e-mobility sector.
The visit brought the AfCW field programme to a close by showcasing another dimension of Kenya’s investment-driven economic transformation. From technology and infrastructure at Konza Technopolis, to agricultural value addition at Karakuta Fresh Produce, and sustainable mobility at Enzi Electric Motor Co. Ltd., the field visits offered guests practical perspectives on the diverse opportunities emerging across the Kenyan economy. The Enzi experience underscored the potential of locally developed innovation and clean technology to transform transport, strengthen economic opportunities and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Sometimes I look back and wonder why I put myself through this madness every single time.
The sleepless nights at the garage, countless trips to the spares shop, and haggling with the few brokers who know where to find Starlet spares.
Yet somehow, Alhamdulillah….by the Grace of Allah, I make it to the start line every time. Each time, the car feels better than before, …….I strap in, watch the timer, and wonder what the road ahead has in store for me…
Tawakkul.
I say my duas, leave my worries behind, and trust that Allah is with me.
With my Guardian Angel beside me, I set off for another #ShellAutocross and #ShellAutocrossPlus adventure, putting my faith in Allah and giving it everything I’ve got.

Day 4 of Africa Capital Week (AfCW) took guests to Karakuta Fresh Produce in Juja, Kiambu County, offering a first-hand look at how investment, technology and innovation are transforming Kenya’s agricultural sector and connecting local production to global markets.
The guests toured the farm and experienced the production of Hass avocados and fresh herbs, gaining insights into the systems and practices used to produce quality, traceable and export-ready fresh produce. Karakuta operates an integrated value chain covering production, harvesting, grading, packaging and cold-chain logistics.
The visit demonstrated how technology, sustainable farming practices and modern infrastructure can strengthen agricultural productivity and competitiveness. Guests were taken through the various stages of production and post-harvest handling, gaining an appreciation of the processes required to meet international quality and food-safety standards. They also learned about Karakuta’s export operations and its connections to international markets.
A key focus of the visit was Karakuta’s wider impact across the agricultural value chain. The enterprise works with more than 1,500 smallholder farmers, providing access to formal markets while supporting training and improved production practices. It has also invested in a 7,500-tonne avocado packhouse, increasing its capacity to grade and pack produce to export standards. This investment illustrates how capital can unlock value beyond the farm by supporting smallholder farmers, creating employment and strengthening Kenya’s horticultural export sector.
Looking ahead, Karakuta is expected to go to market in the coming weeks to seek a total investment of approximately US$1 million to boost production and support the next phase of its growth. The planned investment highlights the opportunity for capital to scale enterprises that are already creating linkages between farmers, markets and export opportunities.
The visit gave AfCW guests a practical perspective on agriculture’s potential as a driver of economic growth and investment. Through Karakuta’s operations, they saw how capital, innovation and market access can strengthen agricultural enterprises while contributing to employment, farmer incomes, exports and sustainable development.

As Vision 2030 enters its final phase, His Excellency the President @WilliamsRuto today officially launched the National Conversation on Kenya’s next long term development vision, posing a question to the nation: “What next for Kenya?”
The President emphasized that the next Vision must be citizen led and people centred, shaped by the aspirations, ideas and priorities of Kenyans. Government will not prescribe the vision. Instead, it will play a facilitative role by creating the space, platforms and institutions through which citizens can meaningfully participate in shaping the future they desire.
The National Conversation provides an opportunity for Kenyans from all walks of life, to share their ideas, aspirations and perspectives on the Kenya they want to see beyond 2030.
The question, “What next for Kenya?”, is therefore an invitation to every Kenyan and stakeholder to take part in shaping the country’s next chapter. The future of Kenya must not simply be planned for Kenyans; it must be imagined, shaped and owned by Kenyans.
Through the deliberations it was evident that Kenya has made significant progress across the pillars and enablers of Kenya Vision 2030. The transformation witnessed over the years has expanded opportunities, strengthened connectivity and laid a strong foundation for the country’s continued development.
