This 9/11 is the last major anniversary where many of us who were alive are either still prime adults or somewhat youngish,

By 2051, everyone who was an adult that day will be quite elderly or dead, and those of us who were young will be in our 50s and 60s,

The technological and cultural gap between 2001 and 2051 will be entirely immense too, to those born just before or after the event, or in the decades ahead, it will feel like a completely different world, one less easy to relate too.

This was the last great 9/11 anniversary as a result. One where it could still be interpreted as what we were, not “damn people were really living like this?”

9/11 is now firmly passing into the realm of an “old civilization” event.

@tuckerweather Agreed here. Not to nerd out on this topic, but looking at a map, I’ve always thought New England should be on AST. 4:15 sunsets in Dec/Jan are ridiculous.

But NE and NYC couldn’t feasibly be on separate time zones, given how societally interconnected they are.

2016-18 was better than 2003-05 AND 2007-09.

@GaryMyersNY I’ve been wondering if it’ll be in New England. Recently, NFL seems to love those playoff rematches on opening night, when the SB champion has one of those opponents on their home schedule. And Seattle’s other two playoff opponents are already playing each other in Melbourne.
