That is why even after amassing wealth, the everyday politician still parades it to an audience they should be serving for assurance. Validation. They still feel powerless, which makes them even greedier. More ruthless. Brutes. For more power, to plug the widening hole inside.

The more the validation (the salutes, the crowds, the convoys), the more addicted to it they become as it distracts from the frailty inside. It becomes an addiction. Here, political power is not meant to serve the people, it is meant to plug an inner sense of powerlessness.

Normal, caring, intelligent people have inherent dignity that pursues competence. The majority politician is a charlatan, whose real pursuit is validation of a dignity they do not possess or sense of control that eludes them. Hence the theater & ostentatious display of wealth.
