A 20-year-old man invaded his ex-partner's workplace, jumped the turnstile, and violently assaulted her inside an elevator. The footage is revolting and shows the victim desperately trying to escape an aggressor who refuses to accept the end of the relationship. What prevented a greater tragedy was the immense courage of a second woman, who placed herself in front of the victim and physically intervened to stop the blows and protect her.

The question that remains is: why are our places of livelihood still spaces of such profound vulnerability for us? Real protection for women must come from a deep transformation of this structure that allows men to feel they own our bodies and our lives. All our solidarity to the victim and deep recognition to the worker who risked her own safety to rescue her!

Pennsylvania university soccer star Karoline Heintz, 18, was stabbed to death by her boyfriend, who told his mom that “demons took over” and told him to stab her. His mother then reportedly helped him clean blood from the car and clothing before dumping the body.

Her body was found in the back of her Jeep Cherokee near PennWest California’s campus early Thursday.
