A heartbreaking incident involving an 18-year-old mother, Irene, has raised serious questions about the whereabouts of her two-week-old baby .
According to Irene's account, the trouble began on Monday last week when she had a domestic disagreement with her husband, Enoch. Following the altercation, Enoch allegedly forced her out of their matrimonial home and locked her outside. Irene sought refuge at a neighbour's house.
While she was away, Enoch allegedly took their two-week-old baby to Mwiki Police Station, claiming that he had found the infant abandoned by the roadside. He reportedly left the baby at the station before returning home. Police officers subsequently took the child to a children's home.
Meanwhile, Irene went to Clay City Police Station to report the matter. It was there that officers reportedly showed her a photograph of a baby who had been brought to Mwiki Police Station the previous night. Irene immediately identified the infant as her own child.
She then proceeded to Mwiki Police Station, hoping to reunite with her baby. However, instead of getting assistance, she alleges that she was detained for two days. She was eventually released on Wednesday and directed to seek assistance from the Kasarani Children's Department.
Sadly, according to Irene, her efforts to get her baby back have not borne fruit. She claims that children's officers have refused to release the child or even allow her to see the infant, despite having previously identified the baby at the police station.
At just 18 years old, Irene says she feels helpless and is desperately crying out for justice. She wants answers about where her baby has been taken and why she is being denied access to her own child
