Nobody who has lived with a woman would say this. I used to tease my ex, a rising star at an oil and gas firm earning even more than me, that we would settle for a 50-50 arrangement if we got married. This is not asking women who can support their partners not to intervene when they can, but material obligation should never be put on anyone who sacrifices her man hours, tranquility, and sanity—and life!—to bear and nurture a child. It’s not selfish to embrace her "disadvantage" as a married woman, and it’s not compensation if you pamper her. She’s earned it.
