There are approximately 1.2 million Venezuelans in the USA.

The Trump administration has deported roughly 25,000 Venezuelans during this presidential term — about 1,500 per month. At that rate, it won’t remove even 5% of the Venezuelan population in the U.S.

If the administration wants a truly massive deportation of Venezuelans, the most effective way to achieve it would be to call for free elections in Venezuela and restore democracy.

Under those conditions, hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans would voluntarily leave the United States. The same logic applies to Colombia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, and elsewhere.

Millions of Venezuelans would return to their country on their own, but they will not do so as long as Delcy Rodríguez’s dictatorship remains in power.
