@009Firework@Mintbitz@Jaystopher Just b cause you came out fine doesn't mean it's the same for everyone ?
And it being religious doesn't make it any less weird, especially since religion is a personal thing
@009Firework@Mintbitz@Jaystopher It's not just about pain. It's about bodily autonomy and normal sexual development. I could also argue that being obsessed with how your son's genitals look like is weird.
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a You can argue that porn is bad, you can definitely not argue that masturbation is bad. That would be denying a scientific reality. Sure ace people exist. You can replace "anyone" with "the vast majority of people" and the point remains untouched...
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a The parents are expected to invest the money that they wanted to use to pay for the circumcision in the first place that's the whole point
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a Circumcision is also terrible for masturbating as you will always need some kind of lube. And as we know masturbating is an important part of the sexual development of anyone
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a If you think sex is a performance thing that's on you. For most people sex is about giving and receiving pleasure and sharing with your partner. And in many cases the received pleasure can be diminished by a circumcision.
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a It's the same cost. Instead of doing it preventively you'd be better off investing with that money, use the benefits and only take the initial amount when you actually need the surgery.
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a Btw if the parents can afford the circumcision for their infant son, they will certainly be able to afford it later when the kid actually needs it. So I don't really get your argument. The cost is the same if you do it as an infant or as at any other point in life
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a How does it differ ? I'm just showing your how your argument can be used to justify terrible things, therefore juste because it applies to the thing you defend doesn't mean it's right.
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a That's stupid, if this happens then circumcision can be done at that moment. For someone healthy, being cut is a net loss in quality of life (Mainly sexual life) and violation of bodily autonomy. Why inflict this loss to everyone instead of only doing it to people who need it ?
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a With that argument I could say some mothers might not be able to take care of their child so all children should be taken from their mothers to be cared for by a public institution or something. After all it wouldn't be fair for those few babies otherwise right ?
@Smokingwatergun@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a Keyword : Voluntary
I'm not arguing that no one should be able to get a circumcision, I'm saying that no one should get to decide if anyone else gets a circumcision that is not medically necessary.
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a Except even if circumcision isn't done systematically that doesn't take away the possibility for people to do it if needed. The opposite isn't true
@Smokingwatergun@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a Did you even read it lmfao ?
Key concepts here are
- VOLUNTARY circumcision
- settings whith high prevalence of heterosexually transmitted HIV (i.e. very much not in a 1st world country)
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a Just the fact that some people, even if in minor proportions, could ever regret it should be enough for it not to be done systematically don't you think ? Just because you're glad you had it done doesn't mean everyone should have it done without being asked first
@awsomeu9@Jaystopher@Ryan247a "what if they don't know how to wash it" isn't and argument for permanently removing said thing without their consent 💀.
Barely 1% of uncut men will ever need a medical circumcision in their life. I don't think this justifies systemically doing it for everyone
