Been a few years since I installed a Mcwill LCD upgrade into a Game Gear. This is the v3.1 of the kit. IPS but still SD resolution. But it does feature brightness which earlier McWill kits didn't really have. New capacitors too to ensure it works for the long while!
A Lynx mk1 & Jaguar are headed to their respective homes after receiving services. New capacitors in both systems, new power components in the Lynx, & a new JaguWATT and Hairball in the Jaguar. I posted about the Jag before as this is the one that had the leaking cap.
The time has come. You need get your atari Jaguars checked out. This is now the 2nd jaguar in a week to show obvious signs of the main filter cap leaking and starting to corrode the pads and traces. This has been saved and has a new jagwatt installed.
Another GameGear brought back from death with new capacitors, cleaning, & a nice LCD upgrade with a BennVenn IPS SD v3 LCD kit installed. The owner will be picking this back up in person tomorrow at the ITC.
@RetroJeff83 I have 2 model 1 units here now. One of them will be getting a retrosix upgrade installed. I'm used to the point to point soldering from doing mcwill kits in the past.
First Lynx of the year. New capacitors, power stage components refreshed, and a new BV IPS screen installed. This Lynx will be back in the hands of its owner in the next few days to be enjoyed once again for many more years to come!
@gamerghosts Yes and that is what is really odd about this INTV2 console. The owner says they pulled it new from the box before sending it to me. Yet the white dots and all the sockets leads me to believe it was serviced in the past as I don't typically mark the ICs unless I replace them.
Another Atari 7800 & INTV2 consoles with some new caps, new power LEDs, and Lumacode upgrades installed. These were some of the cleanest & best maintained consoles I've had come to the ITC for services. Now they are both ready for many more years of uses with HDMI output!
First Colecovision of the year to receive services at the ITC. And the first CV to receive a TMSdigitizer install to provide Lumacode video output. New capacitors and ESD protection for the controller ports will ensure this CV is working for years with new HDMI output!
Another INTV 2 console refurbished & STICdigitizer installed to provide Lumacode video output. When paired with the RGB2HDMI converter, the console is able to provide digitial HMDI video output with audio. Time to power off the console has been reduced to 2sec and new Power LED.
This isn't a console that I service often but was happy to put new capacitors, replace the faulty AV jack, and put in a FRAM upgrade on this CDX. Over half of the caps were showing signs of leakage. Glad to have got it caught, cleaned up, and headed back home!
A 2600 H6 was sent in for a Lumacode upgrade. As the client didn't want any case modification done, a small cable harness with the 3.5mm jack was installed to come out through the RF opening to provide the needed connection. The original heavies really are a thing of beauty!
Another 7800 is headed home with a Lumacode to HDMI upgrade installed. The older composite only setup was removed, some holes plugged. New panel buttons, & cyan power LED. Original 3.5mm TRS jack reused for audio input option. Lumacode output is via new PCB in place of the RF.
Not all systems come in to get upgrades. Sometimes only repairs are needed. Here is a 5200 that was composite upgraded by someone else in the past. They used solid core wiring & it had started to break loose over time. All wire replaced with connectors for easier servicing.
An Atari 2600jr and NES001 both recapped, cleaned up, and upgraded with Lumacode output. Along with the included RGB2HDMI converter, both of these consoles are headed home to be enjoyed once again in full digital HDMI output!
@gamerghosts The ports are part of a kit that OGHugo sells in his shop. I did have to make some changes to the adapters I received to work on this console better. But they are NOT my design or 3D print. That is all OGHugo. I didn't have enough characters left to state that in my post.
Completed this between service requests. Likely be for sale soon. Has Crayon's RGB installed, rebuilt power board, new caps & other components. Also has a set of DE9 ports to allow use of Sears, Model 2, 3rd party controllers along with the original working wired controllers.
7800_2026-D:- is fixed up & headed home! This 7800 has new capacitors, opptional audio input jack installed, new panel buttons, & UAV setup to provide composite & excellent s-video output. A 3D printed bracket was purchased & installed for the AV output jacks for a no cut setup.
@gamerghosts Thanks, this was 1 of 3 currently in to receive services. Seems that systems come in phases for me. Such as getting in a batch of 5200s, and then maybe some 2600s, and then INTV...etc. So strange, but welcomed!
Another Game Gear brought back to life after replacing the leaked/nasty original caps with new. Also received a new BennVenn IPS v2.3 LCD installed. This GG has a new lease on life and ready to be enjoyed for many more years by the owner.
