Recently we were involved in a #remediation & validation project at a former HGV fuel station.
3 large diesel tanks were decommissioned & gross hydrocarbon contamination was removed from the surrounding soils.
The contaminated area was the size of an Olympic swimming pool!
Our waste management team have been out on site this week taking verification samples of imported soils.
Soils are imported in accordance with our materials management plan, as part of an ongoing project involving the restoration of a former colliery to form a nature reserve.
Last month our env. consultants Aidan & Siân were on site near Nottingham to supervise the removal of historic underground fuel tanks and hydrocarbon-impacted soils, in order to fulfil a remediation method statement.
Remaining soils were sampled & tested for validation purposes.

Last week, Josh attended a site in London, where an old convent is being converted into residential housing and new builds are proposed for the surrounding grounds.
Along with our sub-contractors, we conducted a normal ground investigation, which involved window sampling.
One of our engineers, Daniel Heywood has been overseeing drilling and grouting works at a residential development in Ripley today. This was to address the risk of potential surface instability posed by historic coal mining activities. #openforbusiness https://t.co/sotAgFqoM9

Great talk from @SEL_Env, their Virtual Curtain System "no dig" gas barrier was covered, with case studies & questions. We are regularly assessing historic landfill sites for redevelopment & proposing remedial solutions. We ensure our advice is cost-effective & innovative.
