Do not project out a fantasy. See what cards you have in hand and assume nothing new will ever come. Then decide on a course of action in your life and relationships that you can stamp with your full approval each day.
Goals should be what you can achieve today, compounded.
@bluepurplealgae But uh, well, what you can do is recognize limits and move within those and not try and be a hero, just a compassionate and dedicated person to yourself and others with what you have!
Trying to break this habit is genuinely like walking through a path of hot coals but I'm chipping away at it.
But then this means I have to live with fewer fantasies and try and see what I'm capable of. 😬
One horrible mental habit of mine is trying to reason about *my own life*, but, by abstracting away any of my particulars.
So, this always leads to "Wow, I sure am screwed!" by the end of thinking because, well obviously, some averaged blank statistical body can't live.
@bluepurplealgae These are both twin mirrors of "how can I solve a universal problem" (barriers to social mobility and freedom for individuals or entire populations) by erasing positionality as a non-negotiable premise. My mind also goes to similar places as yours with a little prodding!
