When I was walking home from shul, some people drove by and started shouting “Christ is King.” I was not sure if this was meant as an antisemitic dog whistle until they said: “F—- the Talmood.”

"Voldemort consistently interprets events in the series from the perspective of power while ignoring the moral authority behind that power."
@BluegrassRabbi In the 13th century, there were people claiming that the Mongols were the Ten Lost Tribes. In 1260, they actually reached Israel but were defeated near the Kineret.
Five little Hamas leaders standing near a tunnel door,
One met a bunker buster, and then there were four.
Four little Hamas leaders in Beirut, feeling free,
One fell to a drone strike, and then there were three.
Three little Hamas leaders in Gaza, having a view,
One struck by a missile, and then there were two.
Two little Hamas leaders in Iran having fun,
One hit by a bomb, and then there was one.
A regular day on Al-Jazeera and Islamist media:
- If #Israel fails to hunt down Hamas leaders => Israel war has failed.
- If Israel hunts down Hamas leaders => Israel is killing them to make up for its war failure.
- If Israel stops missiles from Gaza => Israel has failed because Hamas will easily rearm.
- If Israel blocks crossings to prevent Hamas rearming => Israel is imposing famine because it failed to beat Hamas.
- If Israel beats Hamas => Israel has failed in deterrence because there’ll be new Hamas.
- If Israel frees hostages => Israel killed Gazans.
- If Israel negotiates => A sign of Israeli military failure that forced Israel to talk.
- If Israel says no talking, total victory => Israel wants to continue killing because it can’t beat Hamas.
Conclusion: 76 years of Israeli failure and Palestinian successes.
I am trying my best to comply with the Biblical command: Do not rejoice when your enemy falls. I am partially successful, but I cannot suppress one pleasant thought: Oh God, I hope a Bayesian Network algorithm was used today in searching and locating Haniyeh's whereabout.
I must have come across this sentiment, this conviction that we’re one small step from our destruction, maybe 500 times in reading about Arab debates on Zionism and Israel over the past 140 years.
And each time this expectation fails to materialize, no one takes the time anywhere in Arab discourse, in government, in journalism, in academia - nowhere in Arab society anywhere - to try to figure out what they might be missing about us, why we keep defying this expectation.
We’re not people to them. We’re not complicated, we have no history, no mind, no rhyme or reason. We’re just moral cartoons, a vocabulary for talking about their own anxieties and convictions and inadequacies.
That’s why they can speak about our destruction with such wistful yearning and not feel like monsters.
