@rushyfpl I agree that she needs to be better. I think she just provides experience, consistency, and depth at a time of change. And we know she can be better, she just didn’t show it this season
don’t want to hear any hate on this. idc about her 25/26 numbers, she’s a key squad player. We need depth on the wing, her final third take-ons and passes are good, her experience in big champions league games is important. I have no more to say on the subject
@rushyfpl she isn’t good at finishing in the final third, but her key passes / successful dribbles / ground duels won are excellent and I think that counts for something
@rushyfpl Undeniably she’s had a bad season and should be doing better. But equally there’s value to what she brings in her final third play, dragging defenders out so the likes of Russo/Stina can get on the ball. Don’t think there’s a need to get rid of her while the team is transitioning
@rushyfpl genuinely tho, her role isn’t to score. It’s to get balls into the box. With mead leaving we need a bit of experience, especially if we do bring young new wingers in. don’t see the issue when she’s not taking a more talented players spot/has been in the team setup for a while
Breaking: The WSL2 club Durham have announced they will have to "cease operations" unless they can find an investor or a buyer within the next 21 days, because without fresh investment they do not have sufficient funds for next season. #BarclaysWSL2
lol maybe I've had one too many coffees, I concede generational might be a stretch, but I stand by the fact there is some bright talent in that team. My point is the strategy: why not focus on developing that talent, rather than building a super team so early in LCL's journey
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, buying up big names and putting them on a pitch is not a sustainable football strategy, it’s a PR strategy. I love that Alexia is coming to the WSL and I love that it’s not for the big three. But I’m still unsure of what LCL’s (+)
Same could be said for other rumoured signings too, even existing ones. Big names don’t guarantee on pitch product, and I’d argue it was the lesser known, younger players that made the biggest impact for LCL this season
@Jon81687174D there's revenue for sure, but because it's such an early stage of investment, the club is managing big operating losses. That's fine with the right strategy, my question is: is it the right strategy? Men's football is so unsustainable, we have a chance to do something different
@tmfellowes and that's exactly what worries me. A club like LCL is exciting because of how unique it is in the league, but it needs to be built on sustainable foundations
@the_prosperr sorry, misread that - but I think that point is important. They're not tied to a big team so they have to create a level of sustainability that doesn't rely on players (who come and go) and an individual owner's capital
@the_prosperr the prem is apples and oranges. Men’s football gets a lot of things wrong, including throwing money at things. We have a chance to do something different and LCL is a great example of a club who could push the boundaries there
@the_prosperr My issue isn’t with the signing at all - it’s a move that makes sense for her. My issue is the recurring theme of spending a load of money on big players without a clear strategy. I don’t think it’s good for building sustainable foundations for the club. Also, comparing it to
Excl. The Guardian understands that Alexia Putellas has agreed personal terms with London City Lionesses. More online here, on this quite remarkable move. #BarclayWSL
