If you don't have a goal so meaningful it makes other people's opinions irrelevant, you will lose control of your life. You will adopt the goals assigned to you by your parents, peers, or society.
How to master any skill fast:
- stop studying
- outline a project
- start building it
- hit a roadblock
- figure out how to overcome it
- repeat 4 and 5 for the rest of your life
Most people don't get past 1, the rest spiral into complacency after 4.
Most people quit because they forget that you have to be bad at something before you can be good at it. It's so obvious. You suck. Of course you're not going to win in 2 weeks. But if you can learn to enjoy extended periods of failure, you will make it very, very far in life.
If you feel lost, build something.
A business. Your body. A skill set. Anything that gives you a reason to learn and focus.
Don't worry about choosing the right thing. Don't think about how difficult it will be.
Just start moving forward and you'll find a path that feels right
The minute I become too frugal or money-conscious is the moment it starts to control me and becomes difficult to make. When I spend almost carelessly, it seems to find its way back. Money-induced stress narrows the mind and new opportunities become invisible.
If you want to do something that has never been done before, don't choose a career. Choose a great work. A mission. Something that you can dedicate decades of your life to. People won't believe in you, and it may feel lonely at times, but for some, it is the only life worth living.
The most dangerous person in the world is the one who continues to show up every day even when the rewards are not guaranteed. Your potential is determined by the amount of uncertainty you’re able to tolerate and how long you can tolerate it for.
