It’s interesting, isn’t it, what’s suddenly going on now after the FFXIV Fanfest and a keynote that, as far as I can tell, was very well received. It’s the very people who present themselves as being so tolerant who are now suddenly acting like gatekeepers and practically demonising anyone who skips the story.

It’s gone from “Everything is awesome. Play the game your way” to “YOU BETTER ENJOY THE MSQ OR YOU’RE A TOURIST”. In my view, that’s just incredibly embarrassing, rather underhand and hypocritical. Let everyone play FFXIV in their own way. There’s absolutely no reasonable basis for suddenly imposing gatekeeping on everything.

@Merrydawg FFXIV has nothing to do with being an RPG. You basically have no choice, it tells a story a mostly good one but we have no choice at all. It's more of a playable movie
