Agreed. QT may be a weirdo, but he knows flicks inside and out, he can write a damn fine script, and does bloody action shoot-em-ups and badass dialogue like NOBODY out there today. The lowest-quality QT flick is a better time spent (and cash spent) than the so-called "best" Disney or Marvel POS which is the same-old corporate slop packaged for a global feel-good audience that says nothing, means nothing, and ultimately, IS NOTHING but a bunch of plastic crap and comic book shit for crybabies who marketers see coming from thousands of miles away. Total garbage compared to "Reservoir Dogs" or "Jackie Brown." I was also turned on to lots of kick-ass flicks by his book Cinema Speculation. People have to toss this bullshit about the artist and look at the goddamn quality of the product for fuck's sake--grow the fuck up!

Quentin Tarantino needs to make another film. Sorry, I’m desperate for one at this point. Reservoir Dogs was on cable earlier this weekend & the moment I caught 30 seconds of Harvey Keitel hauling ass, I didn’t move. Say what you will about QT the person - trust me, I certainly have - his films are undeniably special and Cinema is better off for them. Hopefully he gets back in the director’s chair soon for a project he’s passionate about in some form.

Total concurrence here. She carried Casino Royale (Daniel Craig was a block of wood as Bond), and in Penny Dreadful, simply sublime throughout the series! Arrestingly and ethereally gorgeous. I have yet to see the French "Three Musketeers" series in which she appeared as Milady, in a swashbuckling role--anyone see the films--how were they?

Cool. I have a few of the color, I guess "novels," they made (America, Apocalypse War, Origins). and a couple of the Casebooks. Really good stuff. Though the '95 flick with Stallone got the comic aesthetic right, I thought it sucked royally. I much preferred the Karl Urban 2012 version, which was much more of a full-on, serious-as-a-dozen heart attacks futuristic action/crime drama slug-fest. Urban never removed his helmet, which backed the whole notion of Judges as physical embodiments of "The Law" in an anarchic society. Hard to take a Stallone vehicle seriously when you've got Rob Schneider as a sidekick and the uniforms are made by Versace! Olivia Thirlby was sizzling and totally credible as Judge Anderson, and the story structure was very much like the Indonesian martial-arts/action crime-drama "The Raid," with the pair making their way up the tower. I personally dig "Raid 2" over the original: can't get over the blind girl with the claw hammers messing those dudes up in the subway car!!!

This Snake Eyes looks dumb. Like a reworked Black Panther or something. Hard Pass. How many damn versions of Snake Eyes are there now? Just make a nice, cool, badass version of the character, that doesn't look stupid--the O.G. figure was cool and mysterious, then they made the addition in '85 I think where they reworked him into a ninja, but didn't go overboard with it. He looked better, more interesting. Now they've engaged in "Snake Eyes Proliferation" putting this mysterious character in all these dopey costumes, which was not what made the character a big sensation in the first place. Total cash grab and waste of time. What "ninja" has powder blue straps and pouches? He going to a baby shower or something? Hasbro needs to stop the madness!!!

Boondock Saints hands-down. One of the best vigilante flicks of modern times, LOL funny throughout, with a cast that carries the film through shoot-em-up action, and more-than-one very poignant scene. Flannery and Reedus are outstanding as they try to establish themselves, and Willem Dafoe is unspeakably brilliant and hilarious. Billy Connolly is also unforgettable. It's a unique piece of cinema, and the vigilante brothers, despite their violence, see their work as a Divine vocation. The sequel was so-so, and in my estimation largely tongue-in-cheek, and didn't come anywhere near the artistry of the original, and frankly was quite stupid in places. I liked the non-linear way the film was done, with much of the action portrayed in flashback. An unusual piece, but memorable, "Pope of Greenwich Village" was an excellent film, but wasn't really in the same category; it was good and memorable for other reasons. The two can't really be adequately compared, since they're different from a genre standpoint I think. Curious combo you set up there to be honest--to me, rather an apples-and-oranges sort of thing. Usually your comparisons are between films that are very close in genre. For instance, "Body Heat" vs "The Last Seduction," catch my drift?

The original theatrical release is the best of the cuts out there. I'm fortunate to own one of the Anchor Bay DVDs with the TR and the Director's Cut. I understand that the new "Final Cut" has some dialogue from the original removed. Can't imagine what it could be. But self-censorship--or any censorship of fims--or any works of art--to satisfy the weak stomachs of sniveling young fools with no cultural sense, and no concept of artistic integrity--or integrity at all for that matter--is sheer madness, and beneath the dignity of those who've embraced the creative path.
