I’ve a lot of time for this opinion from @jamestalarico. When did we stop believing that politics could have a moral purpose? Our politics and our lives begin to diminish when we leave our beliefs - our answers to the deepest questions - at the entrance to politics.

I welcome this from @jreynoldsMP. We must not destroy our domestic industry by importing cheap Chinese vehicles, and I look forward to seeing speedy action from the Government to address this.
I have nothing against people using mobility aids even when they’re not really/only occasionally necessary, but I do wonder if over-reliance on them/internalizing the mentality of disability might genuinely worsen health and mobility in the long term

Burnhams premiership is,in fact, entirely down to those of us who stayed in the party and didn't flounce away, knowing that there are people in this world more important than ourselves and we win in inches, not miles.
More than the insane, American-style raw numbers, it’s the nature of the source that bothers me: ultra-speculative & ultra-mobile dodgy finance capital, NOT productive capital or rooted, domestic national champions.
Reform is a party that positions itself against globalism, against financial elites, as “patriotic”, even “nationalist”. Not long ago they were flirting with Left-ish populist conservatism, calling for:
👉steel/water nationalisation
👉fiscal-monetary coordination
👉ending 2-child cap for working Brits
👉state-backed “reindustrialisation”
This pivot has been exposed as a wheeze. Cryptocurrency in its essence, in its code, is purposefully built as an anti-state, anti-national technology/financial instrument. As a store of value or means of payment/exchange it’s fairly useless (too volatile, too few holders). But its principal use value (beyond pump & dump speculative bubble trading) is in:
👉removing frictions on international capital mobility
👉avoiding state agencies, regulation
👉subverting the authority of central banks/democratic control over monetary policy
(TRANSLATION: It facilitates tax evasion, money laundering, payment for fully/semi-criminal schemes internationally.)
It’s an industry of international spivs, grifters, gangsters, do-nothing day-traders (usually with 0 investments in the real economy) and pseudo-libertarian shitcoin chancers. Needless to say it’s totally incompatible with any vision of patriotic “national capitalism”, or public investment in anything like a regional manufacturing renaissance. It’s about financial globalisation on turbo-charge mode — an intensification of the very model of political economy that has seen so many Reform-voting areas go into absolute/relative decline.
‘SPIDER-NOIR’, starring Nicolas Cage, has been canceled after one season.

If we want to beat the Greens in Camden, Keir Starmers replacement should be someone in a real job.
The Labour of the next election must be more working class and choosing a working class person over the mass of London professionals will show we mean business.
Burnham keeps ignoring Birmingham.
But his proposed reindustrialisation policies are potentially more relevant in the Midlands than in Manchester.
