SMU snuck into the tournament, but ended up falling to Miami (Ohio) in the First Four. Enfield has a lot of new faces now and will try to make it back.

Rowan Brumbaugh has had a great two season with Tulane. He is a very well-rounded offensive guy that scores anywhere. He is also able to force many turnovers on the defensive end. David Terrell Jr does a lot of the same with less of a deep shot. These are two great ballhandlers who can create for the Mustangs.

Jaylin Stewart is looking for a bigger role from UConn. He is strong and brings the toughness on defense. He can shoot it, but isn’t a high volume guy. Jaden Toombs had a solid freshman year for SMU and likes to work in the paint, particularly from the post. He is aggressive on the boards which helps bolster this a frontcourt strength. Johan Munch also succeeds on the glass. SMU may struggle with spacing, given both frontcourt guys don’t exactly have the 3-point shot.

Jermaine O’Neal Jr. impacts the game on both ends of the court. His outside shot should help the offense out a lot off the bench. Nic Codie is athletic and can play above the rim. Cameron Lomax is a freshman who is able to run the offense, but can also play off-ball. Billy White III’s biggest contribution may be the from long-range. He can really shoot and benefits well from the catch-and-shoot. Next to the two passers, White should find a lot of open looks for the Mustangs. Nigel Walls is an inside presence that will see time behind Munch.

SMU may have lost all that talent from last season, but they have a lot of guys who can make an impact. Terrell finding his shot would be a huge help, but I like the potential with this group.
