VIRGINA COUNTY SCHOOLS IN CRISIS: Two Staffers Charged With Child SEX Crimes - Superintendent Forced Out

Albemarle County Public Schools (home of @UVA) is facing intense backlash after TWO ELEMENTARY school employees were arrested on serious CHILD SEX CRIME charges.

Michael Swiney - elementary counselor at Hollymead Elementary: Arrested on 11 felony counts - 7 counts of aggravated sexual battery, 3 counts of indecent liberties with a child, and 1 count of attempted aggravated sexual battery. At least 4 children under 14 allegedly victimized.

Nicholas Clark, 5th-grade teacher at Woodbrook Elementary: Arrested months earlier for possessing and distributing child pornography.

Parents are outraged. They say Superintendent Matt Haas and the district kept them in the dark for months after Swiney was placed on leave and the investigation began.

At public meetings, parents demanded answers:
Why were these individuals hired?
Why were staff allowed to be alone with students?
How did background checks fail?
Why the lack of transparency?

Haas has now been forced out - but not without controversy. He's reportedly receiving FULL pay and benefits through June 2027.

Local conservative activist, @realNoahCoffin, spoke out:
"There should be zero reason why every single local media station is not covering this"

"When it comes to the safety of our children, that should be, frankly, a nonpartisan issue."

This is unacceptable. Child safety must come first.
