@KrisZellner I was absolutely convinced as a ten year old that Global was going to be as big as the WWF and that The Patriot was the new Hulk Hogan. Watching the first two months of Global on ESPN at 4pm in the summer are some of my fondest wrestling memories ever.
@RasslinGrenade When PWI went to full color glossy in the early to mid 90โs, the first issue had this color pictorial of the FMW fire match that made it look like the entire arena burned down and it eventually led to me and my brother getting our hands on this a few years later.
@WWE_Vault ๐จโ๐ผ โWeโve only got space for five matches and weโre calling it THE BEST OF THE WWF, what should we start with?โโฆ๐จ๐ป โThe Brooklyn Brawler vs The Red Rooster!โ. I love this tape i used to rent it from a Racetrac gas station by me that had a video section.
@FirstNameJ0hn It was so easy to just be fully immersed and present at these old arena shows in simple concrete arenas. There was literally nothing else to do. I go to shows now and multitask on my phone and watch most of it with a meta lens on the giant screen like a Neanderthal. Take me back.
@RasslinGrenade@ECWwebsite Same but with the Sunshine Network in Florida at 3am. My dad used to fall asleep on the couch watching regional sports and one night I got up to get water in the middle of the night and saw a November Rain montage of all of these insane moves and characters and it blew my mind.
@WrestlingNewsCo This theme song goes so hard. I always remember when my mom would take us to the grocery store with her we would run to the stack of TV Guides and check to see if there was one of those awesome ads for an upcoming SNME or Clash of the Champions.
@AGJamesUthmeier It seems like the massive online push of these teen takeovers was perfectly in synch with the government wanting to memory hole the epstein files and the disastrous iran war, but everyone keep hating your neighbors while the country gets looted i suppose.
@Podcast4corners You could say the same about OVW at points as well. Not to take away from OVW or Chikara but I think it says just as much about how terrible the rest of American wrestling was at that point too. People today donโt realize the embarrassment of riches we have.
@DanhausenAD@BobMage70323520 Bravery is not taking a huge paycheck from one of most morally bankrupt companies on earth while performatively lecturing the masses on how to be good people, but silly jpeg matt.
@DanhausenAD@BobMage70323520 Panderhausing to the marginalized for pointless look-how-virtuous-i-am validation just like Punkhausen did before he took the saudi money. Act like a good person, donโt project what a good person you find yourself to be for pointless internet likes.
@shogunstewa@TheJimCornette No cell phones, no LED boards everywhere, the entire community out on a Monday night in a concrete building watching their local heroes. Iโm 39 and it just blows my mind we used to live like this and depresses me we canโt go back. Awesome share thanks!
@shogunstewa@TheJimCornette Man this is one of the most impactful tributes Iโve ever seen. Itโs like itโs from the perspective of your 70 year old blue collar uncle trying to explain to you why Memphis was so special to him. That shot of the Coliseum at the end ๐ฅบ Must have been an amazing time to be alive.
