@jointdocShields As a PT, chronic large tears or failed repairs of the abductors are very difficult to treat and are debilitating for the pts. Thankfully they are rare, but I appreciate seeing pts with repair of large tears. Otherwise they are destined to walk with a cane and Trendelenburg

@northwoods1980 @AdamMeakins @adamdobson123 Agreed! Thing that I struggle with is how general public and HS kids follow these high profile athletes' injuries and treatments and come in to the office thinking that's the standard of care. Hard to fight that!

@northwoods1980 @AdamMeakins @adamdobson123 Pro athletes battle one thing.Time! They take the treatment that offers quicker return to competition. Many would have =/> long term outcomes with non-op care, but likely would take longer in short term to reach results surgery offers. Psych benefits of being "fixed" helps too.

@hjluks Agreed! So many pitfalls here. Clinicians become lazy and pressed for time, rely on the image and skip many steps in the evaluation. More detrimental to success is the patient hearing whats wrong from a clinician not trained in msk. Patients can't unhear or under the "results"

@DrJN_SportsMed The amount of faulty reasoning in MSK that has been perpetuated because the patient's pain changed temporarily following a technique/procedure is quite staggering. Thanks for sharing your story, hope it helps others examine rationale of treatments

@AdamStenman The PTs may be skeptical of the new intervention that promises the world and fails to deliver. Patients with persistent pain following advanced procedures end up in a PTs office with pain, kinesiophobia, sense of despair when the promise of pain free living didn't materialize

@RobinLarssonRPT @MicahWong_DPT I hope you don't hit a lung trying to inject a GHJ or SA space.😬My point was if docs are using US to increase accuracy of CS injections, it seems a bit arrogant and irresponsible for PTs to blindly DN anything near sensitive structures, especially give the efficacy of DN.

@paintoolkit2 Does it matter? Honest question. Some Ortho surgeons do hips and knees, others, shoulders and elbows. Patients select the ones that meet their needs. If the basics are met, I don't think it really matters much. We waste too much energy arguing over it
