ELECTION RIGGING IN NIGERIA

Electoral Act allows electronic transmission with a provisor for manual collations only when there is no network.

Nigerians insist on INEC transmission of election results electronically more so as BVAS doesn't require a network to do so. Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan INEC Chairman promised Nigerians credible elections and should not join APC or any other party or parties to rig elections in Nigeria.

The APC and ADC primary elections where caricature counting of election results occurred just past Saturday and Monday respectively, showed that manual collations of election results in Nigeria is a no go area. How can adults simply can't count votes? 1, 2, 3, 10, 1,000, 2,000, 10,000, 1,000,000? In APC counting, 100 votes became 1,000 and 1,000 votes became 1,000,000. This is unacceptable.

The APC initially arrived at 25 million votes for Tinubu. When Nigerians reminded them that the whole members of APC are around 10 million to 11 million. APC rigging machine went to work to cook and manufactured 10.9 million votes for Tinubu which they are planning to use manually to rig Tinubu APC into power come 2027. On no account should INEC allow such criminalities.

Nigerians also saw ADC towing the same path of APC by dubious counting of votes. It was a very big disappointment and a disaster that ADC Nigerians thought will give APC a run for their vote buying, will join them to rig their primary elections across Nigeria. It is also unacceptable.

Nigerians only credible party and option is NDC with clean and clear primary elections. Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso OK emerged as NDC Presidential joint ticket on consensus with no rancour demonstrated to Nigerians that they are the winning ticket and a path to victory come 2027.

The final message and take away is INEC must conduct free fair credible and peaceful elections devoid of rigging and whoever wins Nigerians will celebrate with him. America and other developed countries must get involved in the Nigeria election since Nigeria is the giant of Africa. Any flawed election in Nigeria may cause chaos that the world will not be able to handle with over 230 million population. BVAS manufacturers must also get involved in the Nigeria election to ensure that their technology is deployed by INEC and used appropriately. A word is enough for the wise.

Prof Joash Ojo Amupitan INEC Chairman and INEC are closing voters registration 6 months before the election. This is disenfranchisement and rigging the election for Tinubu and APC. It is unacceptable. Activists and lawyers should take INEC to court to extend the voters registration to September 2026 to enable Nigerians displaced in their communities due to insecurity and those in IDP camps to register and vote.
