ROLLING THE DICE - Bowie upperclassmen create, run, and enjoy probability themed games through the AQR Carnival this Thursday and Friday. Edward Day’s class of seniors created a myriad of games, from pulling ducks out of ponds to cup pong.

SENIORS TO VOTERS: To encourage senior voter registration ahead of the primary election, today’s Government classes visited the library for a presentation by the League of Women Voters. The Texas primary election will be held on March 5.

TOTY: During this morning’s first-period classes, English teacher Jacob Morgan was crowned the teacher of the year.
“We have so many amazing teachers that it feels hard to be singled out from all the people that hold you up,” Morgan said.

SENIOR NIGHT: Festivities unfolded as the seniors of the Bowie wrestling team were honored before their matches against Vista Ridge on January 24. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams showcased resilience throughout the night.

WLAM DAY 5: Today, the final day of the We Love Austin Music week, the choir hosted karaoke in the cafeteria. Featuring a microphone and a laptop to display lyrics on, students could sign up by putting their songs on a white board before performing.

WLAM DAY 4: Today, as a part of the We Love Austin Music week, the musical theater program performed a “Big Fish” song in the cafeteria as a flash mob.

WLAM WEEK DAY 2: Following the performance from the Jazz Band yesterday, the Live Music Club performed today in the cafeteria as part of the ongoing Love Austin Music Week. Representing the club, Preston Solis and Kinnley Shillings both played.

BOWIE vs. AUSTIN: Tonight, in a thrilling and freezing match between the Bowie Varsity boys soccer team and the Austin High Maroons, the Bulldogs dominated the first half, maintaining a solid 1-0 lead throughout the entire game.

OPENING NIGHT: Bowie’s Starlight Theatre Company (STC) makes the final touches on the 2024 production of Big Fish in anticipation for the opening show tonight, Jan 18, at 7 p.m. in the main theater.

ABUNDANT ABSENCES: Due to conditions brought by cold weather, such as a lack of running water and icy roads, many students were absent for classes both yesterday and today. In response, the district excused absences for the affected students.

🚨Austin ISD is delaying the start time of all classes, buses, and offices tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16.
All outside and after-school activities will be moved inside in accordance with AISD temperature standards.

ITALIAN POP-UP: Throughout the day, Culinary has hosted an Italy-themed pop-up for parents and teachers. Those who signed up could receive their food to go or be treated to a restaurant-like experience during the school day.

THEATER PREP: The theater is in full swing to put on this year’s musical. They will be performing “Big Fish”, a show they last performed three years ago. The cast and crew are hard at work to get the show ready by its opening day, January 18.

NEW MURAL: As students come back from winter break, they may return to find a new piece 87-foot piece of art decorating the fine arts hall. Created by the Color Cartel, a local art studio, the mural has been worked on since the start of 2023.

AROUND THE TABLES: Lit Club members listen to each other as they discuss the latest novel they read that week. Bowie has various clubs focused on literature, including the Book Club, Lit Club, Battle of the Books Club, and the Banned Books Club.

FALL FESTIVAL: Throughout the day today, Bowie’s Student Leadership hosted the annual Fall Festival. The event featured various booths set up by different clubs and organizations, featuring games, snacks, music, and more.

FALL BAKERY: Today, culinary is hosting their yearly Fall Semester Bakery seasonal themed snacks. The treats will be sold all day in F hall where culinary is offering hot cocoa, pumpkin bars, and more. Products range between $2 to $3.

HOT ONES: Today during both lunches, four staff members completed the Hot Ones Challenge, eating increasingly spicy chicken wings. Ran by Business Professionals of America, four staff members were chosen by student donations with one vote for every dollar.

FLOWER VOYAGE: On November 2, Fleurs De Ville began its show in Boston’s Prudential Center featuring 16 unique mannequins by different local artists.
